We were testing in 2.25 and: Yes, we can make them fly... (we were doing it wrong the other day Omen...)
Got an afv on the nf rax before in an actual game. It was lulz. And it appears that 9-mining doesn't work :\
Damnit, I'm afraid you are right. The devs must've pulled it in the last couple revisions. It is a sad day.
And the living hell to all mappers begins again, having to player clip AND vehicle clip ever corner possible, yea! But hey, WOOT, at least won't have to worry about it for awhile.
Why would anyone think of re-implementing one of the most broken gameplay mechanics in the first place? (and no, being a server var doesn't make it better, consistency etc)
'cos it was fun. No seriously, I wanted 9-mine removed too, and I only think it should come back if it comes back safely - no more flying own-team CV's, and not a whole base going down to a 9-mine. But there were a lot of things that made Empires fun, that don't seem to be in the game anymore. Sure the same things that made games fun also made them shite, so you have to rework the ideas to make the shite disappear without the fun going. Then reimplement them.
I don't mind it as a svar. I personally think it was way to exploitable/griefable, but it was popular (partially, I suspect, for these reasons). Also, its provided a way to 'ungrief' CV's that had been dumped in the water. That's less of a problem now with the !ungrief plugin and regularly adminned servers, but its nice to have a Plan B.
