With the recent release of several high quality maps compiled specifically for the Orange Box engine, is the dev team going to consider making some custom maps official? I was thinking of emp_arid_ob, emp_bush_ob, and emp_kingunderthemountain, emp_KUTM, ect (of course) Oh and new slaughtered, but that isn't really ready yet.
TBH some of the official maps are pretty shit compared to those I think at least 1 should be included just to increase interest. I'm all for bush. Also emp_bush would probably be a good map to include.
Can you recompile nomis for OB pleease? I want it. It was balanced, and fun, yet very simple. Hence I like it. But yes, Bush is fantastic with the random start points, arid is good too. The quality of custom maps is way higher than the quality of many officials.
Problem is middle flag doesn't scale with players I don't think, so in like 20v20 your better off ignoring middle. I might change it to a 3x ref in the middle and rerelease sometime.
Maybe change it so when u cap the flag it spawns a ref? Would that work? I like bush but arid is a bit boring IMO.
People clusterfuck city. Bunkers encourage camping. City is to confusing. You need to know whats going on in under a second. Dont force people to learn a map, make a map so people understand it in under a second.
That's going to be a bit tricky given the complexity of empires. Unless I make a box with all the players facing each other and they shoot until one team loses. You can't understand any empires map in under a second, especially not classic maps, classic maps require extensive playing so that you know where the best places to go are, for example you would not know whether to go city or northwest in cyclopean unless you'd played a lot, or about the importance of the high ground in isle, or how the north is the most valuable place on mvalley, or where to set up a base in slaughtered. All of this must be learned, you simply seem to have forgotten that. Maps require learning, I understand kutm because I've played it a lot, so it's not beyond human comprehension, you simply need to play it a few times so that you know the map, this is true of any map in any game and especially true in empires. The whole point of the map is for people to play it and figure out where the best strategies lie, I don't know what they are although I have suspicions, you're basically saying the map is not fun because you don't want to play it, and you don't want to play it because it's not fun. I can't do anything against circular logic.
