I patched 1.6 to 1.7 and I get the steam error "Game is unavailable please try again later" I deleted the empires fold in source mods, re-installed 1.0 and that ran, then 1.7 again and got the aforementioned error. I re downloaded 1.7 from a different mirror and did another full re-intall. Same error as above. I then did a full 1.0 install, it worked, a 1.6 install, that worked. Then a 1.7 install and the error appeared. I know the 1.7 requires HL2DM and that is also installed. Any ideas why?
Ok, try deleting everything in your steam directory except for steam.exe and your steamapps folder and have steam download it again. (Should only be like 10 megs or something)
NO DONT!!! Make sure the name for empires is the same its always been. Sounds simple, To Simple. But i had the same problem when putting empires in GMOD Ex: BEFORE: Empires After: Empires COPY Or sometimes it will say Empires1 EDIT: Also, Security Software may be blocking it... Thats only Good if you get "Error verifying User ID Ticket"
well i have the same problem, it says that "The game is currently unavailable".. (see screenshot below) Also i tried to delete the clientregistry.blob, but that didn't do a thing..the folder is called Empires so thats not the problem.. anyone found a solution yet?
Same thing happened to me, but I'm too smart for the nubberskates at Valve. I figured "F*%*&ING STEAM! DAMNIT! ARGH! Wait a minute....." *calls hl2.exe* Ooooooooo, it works! Make a desktop shortcut that does: target: "C:\Program Files\Steam\SteamApps\username\half-life 2\hl2.exe" -game "c:\program files\steam\SteamApps\SourceMods\empires" start in: "C:\Program Files\Steam" Wtf, I'm still calling the standard hl2.exe? ?? ?? *switches to HL2: DM* Okay, change target to "C:\Program Files\Steam\SteamApps\username\half-life 2 deathmatch\hl2.exe" -game "c:\program files\steam\SteamApps\SourceMods\empires" Note that you can add options like -heapsize #### and -novid and all that good stuff before -game "blah"
Hey guys, I noticed the same thing after a while. And then one day instead of right clicking on 'Empires' and selecting 'launch game', I just double-clicked on the empires name and it launches fine.
