Defeated by a crater. I managed to spend about 5-10 minutes sitting with my Brenodi Medium Tank half "Hull Down" (main chassis behind cover) in one of the craters on Canyon. To get my state of mind at the time, take; 1 part WTF?!?! 1 part "Get me out of here!" 1 part laughing at situation and 1 part hiding inside tank from poorly armed but very angry NF troopers Stir well until bubbly. Apply as necessary.
I am so tempted to yell "NEWB!!!!" for getting stuck in there in the first place, but I strongly want craters to stop getting tanks stuck in them. One game I was comming (as usual) and owned the the entire map besides thier walled up base in crossroads. So this should mean thier outeched and getting nailed by arty right? Wrong, some retard (UK Tea or something) kept buying overloaded medium tanks and driving them in holes. I didnt notice at first becuase I spend alot of time making sure infantry know where the enemy is, so when I look at my base, craters and craters of tanks. The enemy actually had tanks becuase they didnt have a retard ruining the game for them. Evil craters go away, get our tanks stuck some other day =/
Well, it snuck up on me, actually. I hadn't expected there to be a crater there at all. It's not easy to see craters behind you when you're reversing. And I'm not the sort of person to -intentionally- waste money on tanks. That particular game was a 3v3 to 4v4 (depending on player counts) and we only had two Refineries. The NF were bigger noobs for not having built any defenses at their home base. I sat snug in the crater whilst my teammate rolled into their base with his own Medium Tank and wasted their CV, whilst they were busy turretspamming the center.
Heres what you do if you HAVE TIME and are stuck in a crater. Use nades under the vehical and drive out of the crater with the aid of the explosion. If you are a tank (Excluding artillery) fire in the oppostie direction you wanna move to give you extra propulsion (You can even use theis method for quick get aways ^_^) If you don't have time however, fuck it and get a new one. If the commander wants you to get your ass in gear, GET YOUR ASS IN GEAR (This is coming from the rage of a thousand noobs so bear with me )
Being an Imperial commander very often, I have noticed that craters cause greater vehicle losses than NF forces
Ask a buddy rifleman to stock up on grenades tell him to chuck grenades down the crater, reverse while firing cannon, also works if a greandier plants mines and detonates them on the 9th mine...
once i was stuck in a hole on crossroads, i was just driving out of our base and fall into one of that damn craters. nade and 9th mine tricks didnt worked..so i was getting a new tank...the comm said something like "get in ur old ride !" .then i just asked some people to help me. with 1 light tank+ 1 jeep we rammed my old tank out of this damn crater. ... that was real teamwork ....:D sorry for my poor english skills.
Technically, I was the Commander for that match. At that point it was pretty much 2v2, and I spent most of the match setting up some defenses at the two choke points only to have the NF guerilla them. Still, it was a good game. Thanks for all the tank-unsticking tips, guys! I'll remember those if it happens again. What I don't get is that the BE Heavy Tank looks like it should be NF hardware. It looks too rusty and beat up compared to the lovely shiny BE Medium Tank. Although I have to say, a BE Heavy Tank with dual HE Cannons = antiinfantry pwnage. :D
One time I got an APC stuck in a crater (wasn't paying attention while backing up) and I just sat there and shot enemies while one of my buddies planted mines to get me out. That was a fun ride indeed.
Well, I do admit it was quite amusing just sitting there, as I could take potshots at any NF that tried to run across the open space with my chaingun. I know one tried to run across the open space, but got shredded by the chaingun, and another who ran out to finish a turret got wasted too. :D
maybe add a clip brush that only clipps tanks (ther is one that only clips players at the moment, and letting tanks pass troug, so basicly reverse this) then put them over the deepest part of the crater so in stead of making it \/ its now \___/ for tanks, but still \/ for infantry, so tanks get better grip at it and can drive out
That would be possible, but it would kind of break the whole thing i think i read doobie saying somwhere that those craters where actually "noobtraps" to trap noobs and their tanks to keep them from casuing trouble i find this slightly insulting, since iv'e been stuck in those before to :p
I remember when I was stuck in a crater with my medium tank. There were two AFVs trying to push me out. Both decided to ram me at the same time. They managed to get me out, but in exchange, both of them got stuck in the same crater. XD
Precisely the reason I didn't ask my teammate in his tank to try and bust me out. :D ~~ Well, they definitely can't have heard it. Obviously they thought I'd gone... so imagine their faces when they found out my tank was still there! And none of them thought to get grenadier.
I tried the 9th mine to get an ally Arty tank our of a crator, but that didn't work so well... But I always help my enemies get their tanks out of crators, just toss a couple of mines in before they even get to it and they'll never have a problem with Crators again! IDEA! Add Crators to Escort.... <<; *Looks for Escort Modifcation Thread.*
