This bugs the crap outa me. I can be doing anything and I will randomly CTD and the game makes no bug reports... BUT winblows does detect the crash and wants to submit an error. This has only happend to me since getting a new MB/CPU(64bit running 32bit xp) however, this is the only game that crashes me. All other steam games and my other games do not crash. I have all the latest drivers too. As an afterthought, next time this happens, I will capture the text in the crash report that windows wants to make... maby it will help. If this helps here is my info... ------------------ System Information ------------------ Time of this report: 8/18/2006, 04:17:42 Operating System: Windows XP Home Edition (5.1, Build 2600) Service Pack 2 (2600.xpsp_sp2_gdr.050301-1519) Language: English (Regional Setting: English) System Manufacturer: VIAK8T System Model: AWRDACPI BIOS: Phoenix - AwardBIOS v6.00PG Processor: AMD Athlon(tm) 64 Processor 3500+, MMX, 3DNow, ~2.3GHz Memory: 1024MB RAM Page File: 317MB used, 1871MB available DirectX Version: DirectX 9.0c (4.09.0000.0904) DX Setup Parameters: Not found Diag Version: 5.03.2600.2180 32bit Unicode --------------- Display Devices --------------- Card name: RADEON 9800 PRO (Omega 2.6.71) Manufacturer: ATI Technologies Inc. I looked at it the first time... but I forgot what it was... like I said, next time it happens I will copy it fer ya.
I get a lot of crashes too - when switching levels...sadly, it happens during the load, I hear the windows error sound, which means there was a critical error....but I can never see a reason. I have to do a hard restart when this happens. Happens randomly too (at least, I have found no commonality between crashes yet).
You should be able to open your start menu, scroll up to the run thingy with your keyboard, press enter, and do tskill hl2 Sadly, tskill SUCKS. Pskill, in the days of Win2k, was much better. Pskill killed things. Tskill just looks around like a retard, like most MS software.... On that note, www.openoffice.org
I'd also like to remind you from the issue with the first 1.071 hotfix, it doesn't make mem dumps. 1.071b on the other hand does.
Erm...I have this one: http://empires.cw-hosting.net/showthread.php?t=1129 I assume that's 1.071B? I hope?
