1.071 Commander bug ..stuck

While using the overhead view in commander, if you hit either of the shortcut keys: change team or change class, the menu bugs and you cant get out of the vehicle, you can't hit accept or do anything. you can open the console or whatever, but thats basically it.

 

so thats what causes it

also cant rotate camera, have to use map instead of arrow or wasd keys, and general chat works but not team

 

maybe thats there way of not letting you switch teams while your commander

 

Enter sometimes does it for me.

 

umh, tried hitting the change team/class button again to get you out of it..?

 

I've had this bug several times. Its not a bug really... Its that one of the windows in the back is active. But it is not put in the forground properly. Don't see another window? It the menu you opened for building,researching,etc. I usually fix it by moving the forground image out of the way so I can reach the close button. Sometimes fiddleing around with various action keys can correct it.

 

you mean, if you hit change team rehit it to make the 'bug' go away?

i tihnk general caht works cause i have it bound to numpad enter and not the normal key

 

It's not really a bug. It's happened to me at least 10 times and is easy to fix. Just hit they key again and it usually goes away. If all else fails, or you can't figure out what button you hit, bring the console up and type emp_commander_exit, but you may need to be an admin to use the emp_[commands].

 

you dont need to be admin to use emp_comm_exit

 

You need to be an admin only to change emp_sv_* cvars.

sorry for bumping an old thread

this happend to me (couldn't get off f2 view) when i used z to zoom or x to spin the camera around

but there was a 2nd part of this too, i was unable to see any buildings or units on the map, it was like the map was completely empty (al buildings destroyed), though on the minimap they were still there, and they were there for the other people there, so it was related to them not being drawn on my screen.

also i was unable to place any buildings, it was trying to place them a few km in the sky about the same height as my camera, perhaps 10m below (cant remember), and obviously they ground wasn't suitable for building on in the sky.

i had to exit the game in the end

 

emp_comm_exit

Type in that command, then re-enter the comm vehicle. You should be able to place buildings again

 

Weird stuff like this can also happen if you get severe network lag between yourself and the server, such as ten seconds of no communication. Might help to make sure your internet connection isn't lossy.

 

Sometimes when you are above or below the map as a commander, and re-entering the comm vehicle doesnt breng you back at the right height, you can fix it by driving the command vehicle around.
