You know being a zealot without a religion is no different than being one with it. Like it or not the Abrahamic religions built societies and gave us a moral code. They had their place in history, them still being relevant is a entire different argument. It was the ones that were put in charge that told us not to think when the untranslated scriptures were the ones demanded man to be free and think for themselves. The books and translations are creations of man, not of gods.
Atheism is fine and all (I'm practically an atheist), but that doesn't exclude anyone from believing nonsense, or taking way too extreme actions against things they disagree with. Atheism is not a replacement for common sense.
This thread is basically what emails from grandma would be like if she was an atheist instead of a southern baptist. Is it funny in some ironic kind of way? Probably, but it's eluding me somehow.
It's almost as if religion is a deeply cultural thing and religious people can get very insulted when you insult their religion because you're sometimes insulting their very culture. Maybe even humans are emotional, social beings that will adopt culture through social exposure and not a cold rational treatment of the observable world.
He said it built, not built every. Also, not really, im more than sure primitive forms of worship predate societes, unless you count a cave full of cromagnons a society. Tell me about it. Extreme parts of either side are choke full of "I will save your soul" templar retards.
