Try it, I'm curious to see what you guys get. Also I know it's a bit impractical since very few can think as fast as they can type, but it's still an interesting tidbit of someone to know.
I guess I'm weird...I get 110+ consistently.. I don't like the test though...can't compare to actual typing.
I can break 100 sometimes, but for some reason I'm yet to understand, even though I love my keyboard, I can always type much faster on other keyboards, even my laptop keyboard. I don't know why though, and it's been bothering me for quite some time. I do recall mrdee doing this test though, and he claimed he attained 150. Explains a lot.
88 words on the second try once I figured out how it all works. 1 mistake. I'm faster when I'm writing up stuff from my own brain though. I can get up to about 95 on these tests on a good day, I think I'm around 110 when I play a video game or post on a forum or write an essay. I touchtype based on my own fucking retarded way that I learned from playing starcraft. Instead of my fingers being on asdf hjkl like you're supposed to, my left hand sits on wasd and my right hand naturally goes to my mouse. Too many fpses :D If I touchtyped properly I could probably get up to 120 wpm. I'm pretty happy with my current speed though. Also, protip: Anyone going for jobs on computers should put down that they can touchtype, boosts your chances a fuckload.
well im currently trainded as a computer scientist and im fine with my 30-40 wpm most of the time you just type a few words, take a break, think a moment type again so it doesnt really bother me
My right hand naturally rests on NKO (index/middle/ring) and my left hand is usually on AWD or AWF. Fuck "correct" typing. Also, how do you type faster from thinking than from reading?
What's the correct form of typing? I use all of my fingers on my left hand but only my middle finger on my right hand.
Same here but with my index finger instead. I think it's a side effect of playing computer games before learning how to type.
My left hand sits on WAD and my right hand has the thumb on the space bar, index on "i", middle finger on 0, and little finger on backspace. When I type, unless it's within 1 key of my other fingers, I pretty much purely use my index fingers. I wish I could touchtype properly, but I've just played too many FPSes that I can't naturally have my hand sit on the keyboard any other way.
