some levels i always just get excited for, particularly cyclopean, duststorm (though i think some people hate it...), and i think emp_coast is my favourite new map. what about other peoples favourites?
I enjoy crossroads mvalley canyon duststorm. Everyone usually bashes xroads and I do think its a bit much in larger servers but 10v10 or so it can be really fun. It just plays different than the other maps and I even like comming on it. As comm you only have like 1 screen of space you have to worry about and you can be a lot more active microing your units. Watch for enemy buildings that are low on health, get people to change class to gren when you see some tanks coming. Its an enjoyable change of pace from the other maps where macro strategy dominates and you can't micro individual players as much.
coast mvalley duststorm for most intensity. You can lose in a split second if you're not prepared, and can destroy a rush in the same amount of time if you are.
Crossroads. Lots of cover, small, simple. Doesn't usually work however, when it does though it's a lot of fun.
crossroads has some SERIOUS issues making it unplayable/not fun 75% of public matches imo : / i dont have a particular favor in any map, i do have some disfavors on some maps
all are fine except escort, district, glycencity and urban chaos. I refuse to play them. and i dont consider money being a map ... oh and i almost forgot, slaughtered can suck ass too ...
Sbend slaughter, escort as nf (rev whore) and i dont know why people hate it, it's packed with action, duststorm for its dynamic, canyon, coast Every map with concentrated firefight (not crossroads tho, it's too dumb
Slaughtered. Nonstop action, plenty of oppertunity to ninja, or lead a coordinated rush accross bridge. Easy enough to defend to allow unique strategies like arty rush or paper nukes or death APC's Dust can be fun, if there are enough players to fill it. Crossroads is fun for that magical little time period between spawning and taking/loosing middle. Escort can be fun but people play it waaaayyy to often.
Cyclo is best IMHO. Slaughtered second, dust third. I like maps with lots of space for LT driving. X-roads is just for turretwhores. I hate it.
slaughtered is by far the most intense map for infantry. for the commander its always a headache though.
the comms on both teams are good on slaughtered, there isnt much that they can do for the team more than rebuild armories and sit back while research completes. not a very active commanding role on slaughtered. strategy isnt so easily applicable.
You forgot targets and watching for ninja raxes. You can CV rush to good effect, if the other team isn't paying attention to the area you rush to. ScardyBob (NF Comm) pulled off a ninja VF in the south east (BE controlled the S bend and the waterfront) and pumped out two APCs right after the first of my team's vehicles made it over there. If he got more than two APCs out, and rushed his CV where mine was, it would've been close.
What I dont like about slaughter is that it needs only one second in which you dont keep an eye on your start base and you lost.
Slaughtered is balls, all the fighting just stalemates in a completely linear and boring area (s bend) until someone gets some sort of really powerful vehicle, usually arty or nuke heavies or something. The other option is that one team pushes through miles on the first go and the game is decided within a minute, but takes half an hour. Canyon has better combat than slaughtered.
DOWNHILL JAM 9000 IS THE VERY BEST MAP. MEGAHILL JAM IS A GOOD SECOND MAP BUT IT IS IN NEED OF SERIOUS FIXING. lolololol fillers.
So you rage quit like on duststorm? Slaughtered. I love it; every game in it unique in some way and always makes my day. Escort and don't give me the crap about it being overplayed. Crossroads fails as soon as 1 of the coms get lvl3's and ends the game.
