So I impulse-bought a refurbished backwards compatible PS3 the other day on Newegg (it was a flash sale thing, $160 and I've been wanting to get one for a while since my PS2 went out of commission). It arrived today and I have a question: what the hell do you play on a PS3 that isn't PS2 games? ... Forgot 'none of the above option', eff it.
Fuck that you can get the entire series, also Dragons Dogma: Dark Arisen, Demon's Souls, Earth Defense Force 2025, 3D Dot Games Heroes, & a version of Saints Row 2 that works.
Wow, I didn't actually expect good suggestions, but Tokyo Jungle here we come! Is 3D Dot Game Heroes actually any good? I remember seeing it when the PS3 was first getting its training wheels off and thought it looked kinda cool.
It's pretty fun, it's kinda like a mix of Zelda 1 with a bit of Link to the Past with a bit of "how was I suppose to know that?". I really enjoyed it.
Uncharted was ok, the fun part was just punching people in the nuts. I'd like to get one eventually, mostly to play mgs4, nier, and drakengard 3 even if that last one is on that odd point between bad and just whoa. It has armored core 4 and 5 if you wanted a mech game, both were pretty solid. Disgaea 3/4 is some good tactics type game with a bit of silliness, I played the first one which was great and heard the 4th one massively improved everything. OH, and it has demon souls if you liked dark souls, so that's pretty nice.
Yeah, there are some great exclusives on the PS3. If I ever buy a TV, I might have to look into a second hand PS3 to use as a blu ray player.
