1. Have someone spawn with the machine pistol 2. Stand near him 3. Have him shoot machine pistol 4. No gun sounds. Last I checked, the same applied to shotguns.
Shotguns occasionally make mortar sounds. This is not a script issue as the script is correctly referencing the shotgun sound script as far as I can tell. I also encountered some bugs where shotguns would fire only one pellet for other players, but the normal amount if you're the one firing.
I'll go over the scripts again then. EDIT: Sound scripts are definitely correct, shotguns only use one sound effect. It must be some kind of desync somewhere, maybe the weapon IDs are mismatched somewhere weird.
It's a model issue. I think Smithy said that he thought that the world model's fire animation directly links to a fire sound.
Yeah the newish weapons don't have their sounds set up correctly, this is a pain in the ass to fix since you need the model source files and you can't change it with scripts. It actually boggles my mind nobody changed this when setting up weapons the first time, shit like this would make me pull my hair out if I was setting it up.
I had a look at my qcs for the shotguns, but I think Smithy made new qcs when he compiled them. If it is a model issue, the only way to make it go away is to strip the mortar sound from the world animation fire sequence in the qcs and recompile the world model. Qc files does not survive decompile afaik, so unless Smithy (or maybe SVN?) has the ones he used, new ones will have to be made.
I used yours with minor tweaks if I remember correctly. They're all in the modelsrc SVN if you have access to it. There are no sounds defined in the world model files, which may be the issue. When I get time I'll take a look into it. However I won't be able to test a fix to this by myself, since bots are broken.
So I tried to look into this and had no luck. The only thing that makes sense to me is that it's something on the code side of things causing this. All the models are compiled without weapon firing sounds. (Including pre-existing weapons)
