I guess I'll just stop playing Empires until shit finally gets together. I'm usually all for unusual kinds of weapons in games and I strongly oppose the "modern-military-shooter" idea of "it has to be realistic hurr durr", but when there are long-range shotguns that look like rifles, and close-range shotguns that shoot MORE THAN 30 PELLETS(!!!)*, that's just fucking ridiculous, especially in contrast to all the other weapons in this game that actually kind of make sense. But the worst part, by far, is that the "long-range shotguns" aren't an addition, but a replacement to two far better and more sensible weapons. *Most buckshot shotguns IRL and almost 100% of shotguns in video games shoot ~9 pellets
My oppinion is the same as a person who actually plays the game and isnt a forum troll. Wow what a coincidence. I suggest you go back to my summary spartacus and just exactly copy what I said. K thanks bye
Well in productive news Spartacus and I just finished testing a BE 3-shot burst rifle. It was accurate, but not pinpoint so, giving it an effective range longer than the BEHR or NFAR. It was really useful for pinning an opponent down or lowering their health to the point that in close range combat 1 BE pistol2 hit to the chest was enough to finish them off. On its own, however, the damage felt a bit low, but I didn't feel confident in declaring that (didn't spend enough time with the weapon), and if that is a problem it can be raised after general release. In close range firefights it was substantially harder to use than either assault rifle, and Spart would get me with the NFAR unless I pulled off some really good aiming. All-in-all I like it, but I'll have to see how it goes over with more people/maps.
Be patient, I understand everyone is frustrated with changes but this is a trial and error deal. Just keep an open mind, eventually something will stick.
I really don't consider that much of good indication of usefulness. That isn't even half health for 1 shot to kill something at close range. So wait, are you changing it to what it was before the shotgun patch?
Sorta. I don't like that everyone called the nfhr/bear shotguns. It confuses their usage. They can barely function as shotguns if you have very good aim. They are just rifles that are intentionally easy to aim, not shotguns.
If you want something that is easy to aim, don't make it semi auto. Make it a bullet hose with low damage. Giving people some that is easy to aim for medium to long ranges is a pretty bad idea anyway imho.
i say we keep changing other weapons and not change the one thing people are consistently complaining about
It fires like a shotgun, it feels like a shotgun. I find it hard to believe you didn't see people calling a weapon that fires multiple bullets at once a shotgun.
It doesn't feel like a shotgun to me. It feels like a rifle. It excels as a rifle. Don't get me wrong, many noobs got confused and that's unacceptable, but I suspect that was due to being on the receiving end on the weapons.
It's a salvo. Of missiles. How the fuck is that *not* intuitive, unless you've never heard the word salvo before.
