Are you in the middle of a blackout? If so wait until the blackout is over and then continue to step 2 when you have regained power. Otherwise continue to step 2. Is your computer plugged in properly? If it is not then plug it in properly. Otherwise continue to step 3. Is your monitor plugged in properly? If is it not then plug it in properly. Otherwise continue to step 4. Have you tried turning it off and back on? Regardless of whether you have or haven't you should really do this again. When you have restarted and opened this page in your browser again continue to step 5. Have you re installed the newest version of every driver available at your manufacturer's website? If not then install newest version of every driver available at your manufacturer's website. Remember that they are stupid and probably mislabeled the one you actually need just to spite you. When you have re installed everything continue to step 6. Please input your operating system so that our technicians may help you more easily, without this vital information we won't be able to make nice tutorials with pictures for you.
assuming win7 or higher and latest stable drivers installed, try win+p, choose the last option "projector only". try if you can change the resolution, if its not fitting already anyway. anyway, ignoring that id be rather offended by metruptions reply if i was you, the more information you provide (in this case especially pt.5 and 6) the better the answer you get.
1. right click on desktop, 2. go to screen resolution or display or whatever 3. in the drop down menu, select extend these displays. if no work, 1. go control panel, 2. power settings, do nothing when screen is closed 3. close the lid and wait for the monitor's resolution to readjust to normal.
Yup. Keep all the shit that should be backed up in the cloud and/or on separate drives so you can nuke your boot drive when shit like this happens. Seriously, it's a nigh guaranteed fix. It may take a while, but you're almost guaranteed to spend only the time it takes to reinstall Windows instead of the highly variable time it takes to fix a mysterious bug (or potentially live with goofy long term shit).
Works for me. I'd rather have a gleaming installation every few months than some half-hacked boot drive with all sorts of goofy little gremlins. On that note, I need to do the same with my phone. It's getting a little long in the tooth. Weird bugs crop up.
The degradation is admittedly more noticeable on a hdd drive. Every since I went all ssd, I haven't noticed any tangible slow downs. So I guess as long as you have a modern machine, you might be able to last longer.
I had a panic moment the other day, thought I was gonna have my yearly fuck up, but system restore got me out safe. Here's to another year of windows 7.
Don't you guys do occasional maintenance on your system? It doesn't take much time. A bunch of stuff can just be automated too.
