imo a better idea would be, give engi smg1 or like a battle shotgun and give scout smg 2 or sniper rifle.

most discussed weapons in terms of balance in any multiplayer fps game i played so far where shotguns and sniper rifles. most people also have no fucking clue how to use either of them effectively. just saying ... also tell me one official classic map where a shotgun would make sense for anything else then rushing into the barracks/any other building and randomly unload as soon something comes into the xhair. even in between rax and vf you probably get owned by ARs/SMGs bc of range and rof advantage. so its sole purpose is spawncamping (or vehiclescreennoobypointfarming) and since this is quite lame if it happens to you, you really wouldnt want to promote that from a design side, do you? edit: well, at least its better then scoped rifles as it at least will make people move towards the enemy.
Remove sniper rifle and give scouts ability to see through the smoke when they are in it. They can toss smoke nades in a barax then own everything in it.
what for if you have a shotgun, the interior of a rax exactly where shotguns excel - no need for aim or visibility, just bam bam bam bam bam bam and then you better get out of there ... ... should at least get two guys.
youll run into troubles when you try to drop mines as scout. also, you should do something against smoke and flashbang spam into barracks. it gets you null points, but knowing what people that just spawned will, or actually wont, is worth it ... ... but make the game unenjoyable for the receiver as its very hard to counter if theres more then the scunt spamming ...
Shotguns have adjustable chokes and they can also fire slugs. They can easily be used as medium range weapons, no problem. Perhaps the shotgun in game could have an adjustable choke or the ability to switch between slugs and shells.
