    Spyware.

Orgin is EA's answer to steam. Previous versions of Battlefield were available for play through steam. At this moment BF3 is the only BF that wont be available over steam. The problem is Orgin's (EA's) EULA isn't as friendly as Valve's. There has been some controversy over it's Eula. Which is why, I might be testing this over PSN (I think its Orgin free).

$60 for a game and EA has the nerve to Data mine (for profit?). If that is going to be the case, give me the thing for free.

    f1r3w4rr10r is the nickname

and i already got the first reason to dislike origin

it offers you only the limited editon (apparently for 10€ more) and doesnt even say what you get more for it

It's impossible to buy a non-limited edition anywhere. All Pre-orders from any store are limited edition. It gets you the back to karland pack, with 4 BF2 maps redone for BF3, and all the old BF2 weapons, a few months after release. Pre-ordering off origin will also get you the physical warfare pack, which has a couple of extra weapons.

It was poorly written, and they fixed that.

Trickster, how was the name system in BF3? Was it the same nick as your Origin account or could you choose a name specifically for the game?
And that silly server browsing stuff. Is it faster to exit the game to change server than the system in Bad Company 2?

If you're not paying for it, you're not the customer. You're the product being sold.

It's odd. When you start BF3, it opens your web browser, all the server browsing was done from within that. When you find a server in that, you click join. You can carry on doing stuff, and when BF3 is ready, it'll tell you, and you just swap into it, ingame.

Also, I've got some issues adding people in Origin, unless I'm doing it wrong.

Can Firewarrior and Krazer add me? I've got everyone else so far.

id preorder but not sure if I can run well.. problem is I'd upgrade my GFX card (4770) but don't really want to upgrade my entire comp

    hopefully Q6600 at 3.0 + like a 460 would run it well.

    iono

    we'll see

if its optimized for quad cores I think i'll be ok. I could always bump it to 3.2 now that its getting towards winter.....

EA actually changed it's EULA over the controversy. They are still datamining, but they specifically said it wouldn't be "for profit" in the sense that they are selling the information. They're using it themselves.

Dual Core is the minimum requirement. A Core2 should be acceptable.
