I agree give it a shot altho... please leave the vehicles in their main spawn. Giving team time to rebuild defense before another wave of tanks hit them.
Don't give the mediums ranged/rails. Noobs will shoot them at lilnfinf and cry "whey dun dey daaaiiii"
The number of tanks on escort is a difficult question. If the number is limited to e.g. 6 tanks then noobs, which are camping somewhere in their tank to get one kill every hour will hurt their own team even more. But unlimited number of tanks results in large traffic jam which is also bad especially because most players can't drive and get stuck somewhere. Maybe a commander could coordinate the tank flow. He could build good tanks for his team and lock the VF if too many noobs are wasting them. Maybe we would also see more strategy. With a commander BE also don't need unlimited resources. It will be the job of the commander to manage them. NF team will have no resources and the CV is locked at the last flag. Killing the CV maybe takes a little longer then capping the last flag. Maybe put some acid around the CV so that it can't be repaired. The whole map must be a no-build area for the BE commander. Also his command vehicle is locked at BE start spawn. What do you think? Commander on escort may sound strange but I think that it would be worth a try.
commanding on escort must be the most boring job in the world. but well, i sit the map out in spec anyway ...
I'd prefer this APC setup: Max plates regen, biodiesel engine, UGL. I find that cooling isn't really a problem for APCs and that protection against sticky stuns is more important. Also, I think UGLs are more useful than 50cals on this map. Most areas are really to cramped to use a mg, but you can bounce grenades into nearly any area.
Commander at Escort is an optional job. If someone wants to coordinate his team then he can hop in. If nobody wants to we have the same situation as now.
Well the idea wasn't to make the most overpowered vehicles, prefab vehicles would actually be a limiter on BE, cause NF would KNOW that the heavy ply had dual HE and no 50 cal or no bio mg or bio ml or anything. Just like giving the apcs just fission would MAKE them vulnerable to sticky stun, and NF would know this without a doubt. BE can still constantly roll vehicles out at NF but they are more predictable to counter. And no, no commander.
its prolly the best use for the vehicle spawner there is and i think it will also add to escort - especially since there wont be a million almost invulnerable heavies around (yeh i know, but stickies only work well at the first 2 flags, on any later flag the chance to die is almost 1)
I don't know if I like the idea or hate it. I honestly have no idea. It would be interesting to try for certain, but if it sucks, there has to be no hesitation to revert. Or, release 2 versions, one with VF, one with this. Just to be safe.
It would be interesting if you could change the re-spawn timers based on which flag you have captured. Like making apc's re-spawn quickly on the first flag to support apc rushes, but very slowly on the third flag to reward nf for taking out the tunnel apc. That way you can minimize the flaws in the different flags without remapping it completely.
And don't forget to add more walls or give them more health. Most people are ignoring them but they are the only way to stop tanks effectively.
make triggers detect the amount of nf players 5 nf 2 lt's and apc 10 nf 3 lt's apc and med 20 2 lt's apc and 2 meds 25 2 lt's 1 med and 1 heavy example ofc
Everyone understands the meaning behind blizzerds words... even if he used lt instead of afv. I like that idea btw.
