I was going to make a thread about "Who's looking forward to getting the new Pokemon games?", but about halfway through I realized how big of a loser I am. Now I'm just going to go hide in my room.
Said it before and likely to say it again... I used to like pokemon until what consisted of a pokemon was little more than a bunch of random shapes mashed together
I'm kind of ignoring the new generation and focusing on the awesome portable RPG-ness. The gameplay's still there, and the new online features make me randy. Edit: For anyone who doesn't know, Diamond/Pearl were released in Japan the other day, hence this thread.
Gotta eat em' all. (Lame but appropriate) I used to like Pokemon (Who didn't?) it was the coolest fad in the day, along with Magic:The Gathering. I remember fighting the missing no. pokemon and getting a hundred rare candies. Woo, then I remember cloning my eevees long before that save glitch became known. But now I'm out of it, haven't played since Gold/Silver. They must have atleast 500 of those little buggers now. Features? Well; Aesthetic differences between male and female Pokémon of a given species will be implemented, including aspects such as differently sized or absent distinctive physical features. In the example provided by CoroCoro, a female Wooper has smaller antennae than its male counterpart. Oh that's nice (bewbz!). Seriously, I think the male/female symbol is sufficant. The DS's native support for Wi-Fi will be employed, allowing players to trade, battle and communicate through "voice chat" online. Wow neat, technology is evolving (No pun intended). The Pokédex now allows one to input their own weight and height to be compared to that of a Pokémon. "I weigh more than a snorlax " Do the truffle shuffle. Oh, the graphics look great though. Too bad I'm out of the series now, despite some oddities I could have enjoyed this one.
I'm pretty much in the same boat. I haven't seriously played since 1st/2nd gen, but I can still feel the love there. I was probably the first little shit at my school to discover Pokemon and spread it like a virus amongst my friends and classmates.
your choice of words reminded me of the Butterfly Effect >.> the first two pokemons are still addicting ^,^;
The first few games were pretty good, but then they just started whoring the IP like nothing else. IP whoring makes me a saaaad Dumpster_Fox.
I only played Silver version... I think online is gonna be hell if they have voice chat on, worse than Halo 2 online possibly. OH THE HUMANITY!!!
Yeah, I'm assuming there'll be a mute feature. Worst case scenerio, you can just turn your volume down.
*remembers levelling charmander first day of playing Red version* Damn this brings back memories. Owning friends at the card game, then linking up to own at gameboy. Level 100 Zapdos FTFW!!! I only played red and blue versions. Old school yo.
i liked the first ones, but maybe thats because I played them while i was travelling. and used to play some ruby and sapphire at my school, but that was an emulator and I pretty much ran it at 9x speed
I had an emulator for ruby but it said something about not having a battery so some things wouldn't work. Did you have the same problem? If not, could you give me it? =D EDIT: It says on wikipedia that ruby/sapphire only has 200 pokemon whereas gold/silver has 250... Could you explain?
hmm nope never had such a problem, and cant find it right now either, played it like 2.5 years ago, sry
