http://store.steampowered.com/hardware Coming October 16th: Steam Controller: 55€ Steam Machines: starting at 450$ Syber: I have no clue what you are. Soooo, a controller for 55€ and I can play my PC games on the couch? Seems worth considering.
Genuinely excited for this but I'm waiting til I can buy it from an irl shop. Oculus Rift can go fuck itself, I'm not sitting in a room by myself with a blindfold and headphones on.
Not to mention you need a really high res and high refresh display to get a good effect. I don't want to have to spend a thousand bucks on gpus just to use vr. I mean, we've all talked to the peasants that prematurely upgraded to high res/refresh displays without the adequate hardware. They are enjoying a nice sharp 1024x768 picture on those fancy displays while the rest of us invest in gpu tech like sane people.
I'll wait for controller review. Doesn't make sense to preorder before we know if the controllers are good.
Having just seen the new Mad Max film in passable 3D. I've just been given a reason to get an oculus rift. Any chance the hardware will come up in the sale?
Compatibility issues will be rampant and the performance required to run it properly will be ridiculous. Be ready to wait like a year or two before it's remotely feasible.
