I was readig wikipedia and I had an idea: In ww2 the germans used rocket arty because a rocketlauncher is mutch cheeper to make than comventional arty, (the launchers on the "walking stukas" in CoH are the crates the rockets are trancpoted in) allyou need to launch a rocket is a tube, for proer arty you need a presition machined barrle whith rifling. so rocket arty suits the NF more than shell arty, this would also diferensiate the teams nicely.:D to sum up: rocketarty are cheeper so make so they siut the NF.
Well, ACCURATE artillery requires pecision machining. Just like accurate rocket artillery does. After all, proper nozzles don't machine themselves.
But katushas werent really artilery; they were just massive supression devices that wrecked havok over a larger area ;; (Inacurate as hell though) If anything I see this more as a new type of "Artilery" then a replacement for one of them
then multiple questions come to mind will it have more splash? will it be weaker? will it have shrapnel? will it travel slower or faster than the artillery shell? will it have a easily seen sillohoutette like having a lit exhaust? will it each side have a new artillery vechicle, say a multi-barreled barrage? (i know i spelled some words wrong)
will it have more splash? Depends on how big it is. will it be weaker? See #1 will it have shrapnel? Well, that's #1 and #2 again... will it travel slower or faster than the artillery shell? I'm glad you didn't ask how far it would travel, as the speed of travel is one of the two determinants of distance, along with angle of launch. will it have a easily seen sillohoutette like having a lit exhaust? I doubt a rocket WOULDN'T have a lit exhaust, at least not for part of the flight. will it each side have a new artillery vechicle, say a multi-barreled barrage? Duh. A single-barreled rocket launcher is a silly idea. I doubt an MLRS is going to make it's way into Empires. It's been suggested before, and the devs have "Meh"d at it for the most part.
will it have more splash? less than an artilliary shell. it will make up for it as each volley will have several rockets. will it be weaker? compared to normal arty, yes will it have shrapnel? probably not, as other explosions don't, but that would be a nice addition for all explosions. why don't you make a topic about it? will it travel slower or faster than the artillery shell? I picture the rockets accellerating, so starting slowish and ending up slamming into the enemy. will it have a easily seen sillohoutette like having a lit exhaust? that would be nice. when you fire, the rockets could make a load of backfiring flames. something that you wouldn't want to be in. will it each side have a new artillery vechicle, say a multi-barreled barrage? yeah, i imagine that that would be it, unless this was made the field gun for one of the teams
too lazy to make that topic, but is the artillery shell visible and if not easily then meybe since you can see the rocket it should have some special effect to it
How about ICBMs? then we could just do away with the whole FPS aspect and stick to strategy. Lets call it...Defcon!
Yay! :D But one feature I must ask... That we can strap on emp_recruits to them so they can be used as cheap missle guidance systems...
Not quite that long range i don't think. And if you use the emp_recruits it will be just as good at following the guiding instructions as they are in the regular game.
hahahaha. yeah... that's ok though - presuming they have a large enough splash damage they'll get the enemy base anyway... where do you think that last emp recruit we didn't ICBMise took our boom tank?
