I try putting this brush in my map and it doesn't spawn anything. It just says my vehicle design was accepted and commencing construction.
sorry i cant help, but just out of curiosity, is it the one which uses predefined setups like shandy used on this soccer map for example or the one which is supposed to act like a vehicle factory?(which at least to my knowledge is unused so far)
Yeah, it's defined in the fgd as a brush that you can build vehicles in. Shandy's map just uses emp_vehicle_preset and emp_vehicle_spawner, which are point entities.
I'm using the current release on Steam, If that's what you mean by version. I'm away from my computer right now, but I do have a map I can give you in a few hours.
hes right. it doesnt work. even when you turn on emp_debug_build_vehicles you cant build there (only outside the box). its been a month and its not fixed in the beta so im bumping this now
shall we make it functionally identical to being in a vf? i.e. it should cost team res / wages, and you need to be below the max limit for your team.
i think that would be ideal. i thought thats what it did before. had no clue it ignored stuff like the max limit
I've fixed this, so your map will work in the next release. I'll let you know when I've pushed a build of it to the beta branch (for now just windows, just client-side, since we may do a bunch more before we start beta testing the next release on servers), that way you can finish your map before the next release with the feature already working.
Ok; you should now be able to switch to the beta steam branch (right-click Empires in steam > Properties > BETAS > select beta from the dropdown). After a 27MB update, your map should work; i.e. you can spawn vehicles just using V directly, in the middle of the test map, but not in the corners / edges of the map.
