Which of these songs best sums up Empires?

I'm not a fan of the techno music for Empires. The epic war music from the other trailer fit so much better.

 

I don't think that these selections particularly fit, something deeper and darker would probably work much better.

As for the poll, industrial techno is too fast-paced and upbeat for Empires. Makes it feel like Dystopia or a flash game. Newgrounds is fantastic audio, but too much of it is techno or synthesized stuff. try going with FreePlay

Among my fav. classical selections are Bach's Air on a G String (yep, I'm betting people will joke at that), Bach's Toccata and Fugue in D Minor, Stokowski's version (non organ) and Paganini's Caprices....Wagner is also quite good.

Perhaps explore Wagner's "Das Rheingold" for some very warlike sounding music.

No, no. Ok, every post in this thread by me has had joke song suggestions, but I'm being serious now. I know it's really cliche, but you could always go with Vaugner's Ride of the Valkeryies. That's got classical, dark, and it's also famous. And probably not copyrighted. But, like I said, it's been done before.

that freeplay site has SO MANY cheezy songs, it's unbelievable.

but there are some intersting ones. I recommend looking through the orchestral sections.

the problem with most songs is that they either start good and don't get any more exciting, or just start exciting and don't have the build up.

Makes my think how special Amnesia is :D

 

Adagio for Strings, but done by vocalists as found on the Homeworld soundtrack.

If you want to break people's hearts, that is. For the trailer? Hum. You CAN find Industrial that'd fit it, but you can't go for the stuff that borders Techno. You have to go for the heavy Industrial there.

It isn't the music itself, its the recordings that you can't just copy...just use whatever you want, if its just an online video, no one will sue.

Also, now that I heard it in the GTA commercials, I can't get enough of it. I think Welcome to the Jungle ala Guns and Roses would be great for the trailer. Not that it would happen any time soon. And everyone would immediately think of GTA. But I would still love it.
