    Leaf 2006

It seems to have the feature of Hamachi, but much more user-friendly, and the good news is, for those of you who have had trouble getting Hamachi to work in the past may have luck with this.

I luckily found this while sprawling across the intarweb, and I'll plan on using it...seeing as how my Hamachi basically refuses to connect now.

You can have several networks setup, with diffrent permissions on each network. And unlike Hamachi, you can do more then just VPN, you can share folders (MASSIVE ECCHI FOLDER ANYONE?), and even play Xbox 360 via direct connect.

You have to sign up, but that can be done within the program with a simple username and email field.

One con is the need for a friend system, but it's nearly exactly like Xfire, just search for the username of the person you would like to add, and boom.

Already made a network caled "Empires", username: MrBojangl3s

Please try it and add me, for the sake of experimentation at least :D

EDIT: If you can't connect, tell me quickly and I'll just enable port-forwarding for the correct port, another thing easily done with Leaf :)

Nevermind, I added you to the "My Empires" network. I'll see if I can setup a shared folder...
EDIT: Ok, since you haven't joined the Empires net I can't do anything... but I setup a shared folder specifically for you on my desktop called "EMPIRES".

It has 2 torrents and a .gif I made from a VGCATS comic. Oh the spoils.

Ok, I added write access to you, in the Empires network. STAY ONLINE! I can send messages to you! Try putting stuff in there....

It doesnt show you as online.

Hmm..this could potentially be much better then hamachi, with friends lists, messaging (better one), file sharing and the like.

Exactly! That's why I'm trying to figure it out now.
It could work much better for us to get games together and such, hell, we could even... dare I say... PLAY Wii (Or.. Xbox..) together over the internets?

I'm going to try and see why it says you're offline.
EDIT: Can you access my shared folder? see here. Scroll down and see how to access my folder...

EDITX2: Upon further reading of their support forums, it may be their servers... one person mentioned a spike in user activity, and like all new things on the internet they are struggling to catch up with their growth. So maybe we should sleep on it.

When i use it, it stops a system process that my computer needs, and then forces shutdown =O

Hm. Well, I'll just keep an eye on LeafNetwork's forums, they might have a fix for it. Or a patch, something similar. Also, unless more people try it, it wil be hard to fix the problem. Most people fixed problems on the forums by just trying to connect to the Admin, and if they couldn't then they knew what to do....

You know, you can work around the shutdown countdown by turning the clock back.

    I'm totally serious. It works.

Download the program, create an account, add my name to your friends list. Now you should appear in my friends list. I can then add you to the "EMPIRES" network (because I'm the creator of it) and you gain access to a shared folder on my desktop labeled EMPIRES.

type "shutdown -a" in the run box.
It will abort any shutdown countdown timer

    Wanna know more fun? Try
    Code:
shutdown /l /t:120 "The computer is shutting down" /y /c
    Wouldn't suggest the /l part.
    Here's what that does: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/317371

But the greatest thing in the world, lies in the command:
    Code:
    shutdown -i
Run it, you'll laugh. No it won't blow up your computer or do something similar. Trust me.

Thats for Windows 2000... Most people have XP or higher, so that would be a bad thing to try. It might have been changed somewhat in XP and Vista (if its even there)

In XP, shutdown -i will merely display the shutdown GUI.

Full description of switches from the program itself:
    Code:
    Usage: shutdown [-i | -l | -s | -r | -a] [-f] [-m \\computername] [-t xx] [-c "c
    omment"] [-d up:xx:yy]

No args Display this message (same as -?)
-i Display GUI interface, must be the first option
-l Log off (cannot be used with -m option)
            -s Shutdown the computer
-r Shutdown and restart the computer
            -a Abort a system shutdown
            -m \\computername Remote computer to shutdown/restart/abort
-t xx Set timeout for shutdown to xx seconds
-c "comment" Shutdown comment (maximum of 127 characters)
-f Forces running applications to close without war
    ning
-d [u][p]:xx:yy The reason code for the shutdown
                                    u is the user code
p is a planned shutdown code
xx is the major reason code (positive integer le
    ss than 256)
yy is the minor reason code (positive integer le
    ss than 65536)

What was the topic for this thread again?

Has no one thought of the security problems of sharing a bloody folder over the internet on your machine?

There is a reason, a GOOD reason, that firewalls block sharing of folders and printers over the internet.
