I already mentioned it the last two times a Zeldathon was on, so you might remember this.

In short, bunch of people play all the Zelda games non-stop for 120 hours (5 days) to raise money for charity. I can't speak for every one of you but I enjoyed watching the marathons thoroughly, having the stream open pretty much all the time.

Will you guys tune in/donate? :)

Is this one of those things where people take turns to play a video game while the other sleeps?

    If so, that's ridiculous..

Why would I want to give money to a bunch of people who sit around and play video games?

Why not they introduce the games to the kids and have them play it, and the money goes towards them owning their own piece of entertainment?

Because it's not as logistically easy, kids can't play in shifts all around the clock, and they actually have to beat all those games which means borderline speed running. Besides, they pick a different charity each marathon, and IIRC Child's Play has been supported already.

At the end of the day, it's charity. I won't even try convincing you. Go watch WCS finals instead, they should be coming close to the grand finals now.

Exactly this, they are doing what I do, play video games. Is there a challenge to this? No, it's just them getting money and playing video games. A better way to do charity is to donate 100% of your indie bundle money to charity.

This is like people who say they will shave their head if an x amount of money is raised for Y disease research. Attention whoring.

The idea is that you donate money to a charitable cause and get some enjoyment of watching people play. Sure, you could just donate money straight to Child's Play, though I'd think a child with terminal cancer would much rather you donate to help find a cure to help save their life instead of a game that they can enjoy for what little remains of it.

I honestly can't see why people would rag on a charitable event simply because of how it proceeds. If the charity gets all or almost all of the money in the end and you get something out of it, then what's the problem with it? Do something good, get something entertaining. Plus, video game marathon charity events have incredibly low overhead and administrative costs compared to many other charitable events, making them more effective than many other types of fundraisers.

Its the fact im giving money to a bunch of people who sit on their asses playing video games, rewarding their lazy behavior.

However, if I get stuff like this.

I don't mind giving them money, if its towards them or a charity.
They earned it by entertaining me.

But if its a 24/7 livestream of them playing fucking zelda games.
    No thanks.

If I had money to blow, I prob donate like a few g's.
I would also email krenzo and offer 1mil to remake empires and finish the damn thing.
The money he would earn from steam can fund his minority report project, and we all could experience fun agian.

But I don't have that kind of money, so before I give away the little cash I have I want something in return so I can have a memory.
I haven't taken off my "deletebloodcancer.org" wrist band since I signed up. What I get out of this is a free flight, top grade food, and a night at swank hotel in-exchange for my bone marrow.
Then little jimmy sunvabitch can look forward to decades of back pain.

hey idiot, people shave their heads for cancer research in order to donate wigs for people, since you know, people lose their hair during chemo. the gathering money bit is only icing on the cake.

and dont try and backtrack and say you meant some other thing, because people only do that for cancer
