Bounty's This idea is in combination with Chris's listening posts. The commander can select a single enemy from the enemy team and place a "bounty" on his head. It costs 30 RES and rewards one extra skill point to the man who kills him. And the attack order is issued to all friendly players. This allows commanders to designate targets of extreme value like scouts and the tanks general troublemakers that he personally desires eradicated quickly. Difficult to abuse and costly in a pinch, this gives the commander the ability to sign a single units death warrant. Pros: -encourages following the commanders orders -allows the commander to point out targets of interest Cons: -commanders may abuse -restricts the number of commander targets(may be a pro) -one player totally gets the bad end of this Deal Alts: -Just listening posts (No Commander Targets) -Just command Targets (no Listening Posts) -commander mounted death ray -automatic wall hacks -no targeting whatsoever.
Cons: -commanders may abuse ya like say maby the commander knows who that enemy is and is griefing against that person all the time with a permanent bounty. OR perhaps the commander wants to give his chosen friend/elite player a quick boost in points and constantly watches over his head and assigns bounties just in his reach.
Unless it gives incompetent players autoaim, this is a waste of resources. Edit: Except for ViroMan's suggestions above. Griefing and sploiting are always fun.
How is this a abuse? Keep bounties on the enemies good players and feed your good players. Sounds like a good plan to me.
Not liking it. Let's just say for a moment that the side A comm is a griefer, and holds a grudge against some side B player. Ragequits are sure to ensue.
30 res is not much. Can't the commander just give easy bountys to everyone so they can all level up really fast? I don't like it.. Enough crap in this game as it is. constructive edit: make it give like 2 points or cost a lot more. Or just don't add it.
Commander abuse or griefing is no valid argument, because there are already many ways to do this. You vote one commander, because you think that he will do a good job. If not then votekick him. Generally I like the suggestion. It could also be a complete replacement of commander targets. But therefore cameras/scouts/listening posts should take over the role from commander targets. Problem will be, when team has many resources. So commander has to put a bounty on every possible target, because else the team starts to rage. So I would only allow one bounty at the same time. Currently I already use sometimes a similar thing as commander. When some of your tanks are fighting against some enemy tanks I give them the same target. But this is very time consuming, because you have to be close to every tank battle. But when commander targets will be removed, then there would be more time for this or bountys.
No. Limit bounty to one. Targets should only be changed, if there is a replacement for them like improved cameras, scout skills or listening post.
So.. You really want targets? As most people seem to complain about targets that they want them all gone, but now it's just going to be moved to another part?
i prefer targets, because they are easy to get rid of if you don't want them. Listening posts will be fail due to CONSTANT spam...
There are already enough thread for the discussion about targets. This thread is about the bounty. And one bounty at the same time would work with or without commander targets.
What...? I just meant that people would bring their random grudges into the game, and that would go badly.
Side note: Commander's should not be allowed to put the bounty on the enemy comm tank. Killing the enemy commander ends the game, so a bounty on one is ridiculous.
Hm, I kinda like this idea as well. Allows for better micro, and if you really spammed it it would be a way to spend 30 res to give your players levels? Sounds good to me!
This would be acceptable only if regular attack orders were no longer in real time, but this priority targeting 'bounty' will kind of be slightly off real-time.
