Shacknews has a good story on the medic enhancements and Destructoid has some pictures of the loadout screen (Thiefs!) Goldrush + unlockable weapons http://www.shacknews.com/featuredarticle.x?id=833 Medic achievements http://www.shacknews.com/onearticle.x/52249 Loadout screen http://www.destructoid.com/hands-on...-gametype-and-medic-class-weapons-81893.phtml The achievements look near impossible, and I bet most of them will be beat with a few people on an empty server, not playing in game. Still it's great there's new content, even if it takes forever.
''Autopsy Report: Provide an enemy with a freezecam shot of you taunting above their ragdoll.'' Something tells me this is gonna be a pain. Is this even serious?
Probably not if it's during the "Your team won" stage. Killing 50 scouts with the needle gun sound like a pain though.
Other guns only if you collect archivements is ***** Its like farming gold in a mmorpg. Not your skill, your whole playing decides if you win
" Big Pharma: Assist a heavy in killing 30 enemies where neither of you die." - AKA being a camping whore. "Blunt Trauma: Assist in punching out 4 enemies with a single uber-charge on a heavy." - WOW. Most Heavies can't get their fat a$$ close enough to get a single punch-out over the course of a full map, let alone 4 in one uber, which is what 15 seconds or something?! "Specialist: Accumulate 10000 heal points health in a single life." - As I recall that's about double a good game for a decent medic right? These are the only hard ones I really saw. I'm definitelly up for the challenge though. It's too bad that they are doing stagered releases of this stuff. Everyone will be playing Doc trying to get the achievements, and when the next one comes out everyone ill be playing them.
I'm gonna go with Mayama on this one. I was already apathetic about TF2 to begin with, and this just pushes it further away from my tastes.
I already thought criticals were the thing that basically ruined TF2 for me, and now they added a fuckin' medigun to make you crit all the fuckin' time.
Slithzerikai, since when does a critical hit every once in a while ruin the skill and make it all luck? Might I add that your skill is also proportional to how often you get critical hits? When you're doing good you get them more often, especially during kill streaks. If you're good it doesn't matter how many crits (except in the extreme cases) the enemy has, you still have a better chance at winning a fight. Besides, it takes skill to even use critical hits well, because if you can't aim, then your critical hits aren't going to do anything. The new medigun will not give any defensive bonuses, so you're going to have to make all those shots count or else it doesn't matter. Critical hits just give you an occasional lucky shot, which actually, IMO, adds to the atmosphere and lets less-skilled players (occasionally) win some of the time.
You may think this as overreacted, but I urge you to play against me. About 50% of the times I get killed are criticals. And watch this, I'm not shitting you. I have NEVER critkilled someone before in the +-60 hours or so I've played.
Don't worry, thats a compliment. It means you good A guy from Steam said in an interview than criticals are given to player that aren't scoring well. the more you suck, the more crits you get. It so that the 'leet' can't totally dominate and make all the 'n00bs' demoralized. I agree with it. When I played Quake against my buddies I would never die as I was completely obsessed with it and they played for 'fun' (I know, playing for fun? WTF? Noobs.) I learned to let them get the odd kill, just one in five or so was enough, and that way they wouldn't get frustrated and quit. Anyway I thought everyone was bored of TF2 by now?
