How exactly do I create a LAN server if possible?

    I have a few friends coming to my house in an hour who also would like to play Empires with me. Is it possible to create a LAN server with the current version of Empires?

    Should be perfectly possible. I really hope your server is beefy enough, though. Trickster always said that CPU is the bottleneck resource. After that, networking I think

    Just hit the create server button inside the game and you should be good. Then just click find servers and you should be able to find it inside the LAN tab.

    I tried to host a server with the "create server" tab inside empires, I loaded a map and, on the same router, my friend scanned the LAN tab for any servers, none came up. Any ideas?:(

    Check if sv_lan 1 is set in the console.
    If he still can't find it, try:
    type status in the console get the ipadress
    tell your friend to type connect + ipadress
    in the console.

    right click on empires in your game library, click on "edit game properties" or something like that.
    Type -console

    Voilá you have a console.
    Also, if you want empires to be altabfriendly, type
    -console -windowed -noborder
