Commander should be able to post a message on the top of the screen for every teammate. For example this could work like this: Type $ + message as commander in team chat to post the message. To delete the message just type $ without message. Pro: - Players who don't want or can't use a mic can command much more effective Con: - Can be abused to post taunts (but therefore commanders can be voted out or be banned by admins)
Pro: can get rid of the "I forgot where I need to go" Pro: "I just joined, whats the plan" is also covered Limit this to 32 characters per line * 2 or 3 lines and any size issues will be minimal. This is assuming something along the lines of: Alpha north then east Echo south then west Everyone else mid or are you thinking something else?
It is in likeness to the system on allegiance, except that game had much more better commanding with text because it was mic-less, but still it is the say and it worked there so it probably can work here.
I was only thinking about one single line. Typical messages for me would look like this: "First NW then middle" "VF is locked until heavies" "MAIN UNDER ATTACK!!!" "Scout in main base" "DU APC rush when we have 4000 res. Drive directly to enemy cv." "Get refineries and stop defending this single rax at A4 forever!" "Great work team!"
If $ was to post it on the screens, why not make $a post it on alpha squad's screens, $f post it on foxtrot squad's screens e.t.c. too?
I agree this one is better, because then you can give each squad an objective while in bigger(or smaller) letters have the general order or announcement on top or bottom.
I like this, reminds me of DarkRP in Gmod where the Gang boss can do the same thing for his lackey gang members since most DarkRP servers restrict mic use.
I approve. Makes it easier for new players to figure out what to do, makes it easier to give orders, makes it easier to teamwork. And if the commander wants to tell their team then they probably deserve it anyway.
make sure the letters are in red.. red for IMPORTANT. maybe a flashing red/yellow color like when the commander is about to die.
SIP; I agree 100% with this suggestion. BUT: What if a comm were to write "MAIN UNDER ATTACK", and, after the issue is rectified, were to forget? Maybe implement some sort of reminder or such..but this is the way it could accidentally be hurtful. *No, I do not believe this small con should prevent this suggy from making it.
The commander of course should also see his messages. This should remind him. Also the message may disappear after 5 minutes automatically.
And another push. Please implement this. Especially in 2.26 without commander targets commander without mic need a better way to communicate with their team.
This should go like below the comm name. It wouldn't occupy much space either. @predom: if a comm's competent enough to use it the first time, he would be competent enough to switch it back.
