Maps that have always worked ie escort, homeland_b9 and some others, lock up on sending client and drops us from the servers, EPIC and NUBS with this message in client console Netchannel: unknown net message (42) then gives the ip of the server sometimes gives the number 43 Any ideas?
We've had the same problem on the Jekotian server. These maps need to be recompiled for some reason. I believe Varbles figured out the reason because initially we had the same problem with his revised version of Slaughtered.
Not that I know of. Which makes it even stranger. Only thing I know is that recompiling the maps fixed the issue. You'd have to ask Varbles for the details.
thank god escort isnt the only map doing that. i know the hdr on it is broken, and i haven't been able to fix that, but i had no idea about this. would be nice if someone were to recompile it on their end, hammer hates me for some reason
So loading these maps on a listen server works without issue. Only when loading these maps on a dedicated server does this issue appear. I asked Varbles about how he fixed this issue and tried his advice (recompiled emp_coast_xmas_1b without doing an "Only Entities" compile), but alas, the map was still preventing clients from joining the server. Perhaps he was experiencing a different issue? The only thing that has changed is "Source SDK 2013 Multiplayer".
Most likely the exploit Valve fixed. Could it be an issue with the way content is packed / not packed on the download servers ?
escort has always been a fun map and as much as some players complained about it, it was the rare map where everyone on the server would play and no one would sit in spec.
