When your team is down on resources, and there are literally 5 guys in the vf waiting for enough refs to trickle in for their suber tank, is it okay to build a tank with no armor and weapons, just so you can get the chassis now and park it on a repair pad to get the rest of the stuff later? I ask because in-game, I hopped out of a fully composite armor dual HE heavy, only to watch the commander hop out of the cv and thought it was best to steal my empty heavy while i class change (defuse, increase armor, and detection, oh the fun I could have had... but I digress). Anyways, I run over to the vf to see that 5 other people are waiting around, one spamming jeeps with our limited resources. I took off all the armor and built a heavy with no armor and dual HE to get it on the repair pad to get the armor later. Unfortunately, the repair pad got bombarded to death before I could get there so I was left with a heavy tank and no armor. Still it lasted until the end of the match. Took out two enemy heavy tanks and a few infantry. The heavy tank that my commander took from me? Didn't last at all in battle. Now I ask, do anyone else do the same thing? Rush out an armorless and/or weaponless tank, just to claim your chassis then try to park it on the repair pad to get the rest of the stuff? Or is this looked down in the empires community? 1. Build armorless/weaponless tank for (~200-500 res) 2. Park it on repair pad 3. Get the armor/weapons (~200-500 res) 4. now you have a fully armored tank even if your team have at max 500 res at any given time
I don't see anything wrong with it. It's quite clever, actually. What I do see as wrong is the 5 people in the vf during a res crunch.
It is still 10,000x better then emp_recunt spamming composite 3phase jeeps. 1 is better then 0. But I don't think people apreciate it if they see a tank without armor and weapons, they may report you for griefing.
Most people smart enough to do it deserve to be driving tanks I guess. I would probly try to wall someone in if I thought they were doing it to grief though.
Quite simply, if you're smart enough to think of this, then you're most probably a better driver than they are. Also, I wish you didn't post this here, now the nubs will think of this idea -.-
Oh lets admit it... the man's a clear genius in being able to out-smart everyone and get a tank without standing in line for it as normal people do... not that i would do it though, lines are there for a reason
At the very least we now get to point and laugh at the noobs who build cheap tanks with plans to refit it, then realize there's no repair facility available with which to make their awesome tank and so they abandon their tank and run back into the vehicle factory. Then we nab the tank and drive it next to the commander. The commander, who is probably also a noob, jumps out of the cv to steal the tank and Leeroy Jenkins his way to victory. Then we nab the command vehicle before he realizes its a cheap, empty chassis. We place a repair facility, construct it, build a cheap tank as before (or use the same one that has by now been abandoned by no less than five noobs already), outfit ourselves a rawksome tank on the repair facility and then rush the enemy CV to victory!
How to spot a noob in the VF: 1. Pushing and shoving to get to the screen display. 2. Trying to get in the little room for BE where the display is. 3. Running up the wrong ramp on BE VF. And if you want to know how to do it otherwise, well, just not going to tell you, because if you need to ask, you don't need to know.
Meh I see nothing wrong with it. The retards camping the vf have probably already wasted 5x more res than me while doing 1/5 of the stuff. If I'm running around the map capping res all game and keeping my tanks alive when I need a new one your damn straight I'll put no armor on it so I can get it before the retards who are probably just going to drive it into the water in 2 minutes.
I've been doing this for ages, accidentally discovered it in 2.0 testing when I built a crap tank TBH, it depends on the usage. I use it for 1 reason: the other people in the VF are incompetent idiots that should not have tanks, and are keeping the skilled players like me from getting tanks.
Well I wasn't sure, if people consider it "griefing" to do so. I play nice... until I think it's time that my priority of getting my tank is much more valuable than any other tank driver waiting around in the vf.
