Given that you have a proper PC, there is little sense in buying a console unless it's for playing goofy party games when your friends come over. For that you should probably get a Wii ir just, you know, go out of the house.
I'd agree but a PS3 makes a great home media/cinema thingy. Combine it with a no-name HD tv and you have a cut price SOny Bravia with a BLu Ray player and party games. (We played the first 4 chapters of The Walking Dead as a house.)
