Free content is only the first 60 days. Pay content always gets charged...but who downloads a demo that is over 60 days old? I have an XBox from 2006 that still works. It's autographed, so I've since relegated it to sitting somewhere on display - but while I did use it, it was fine...albeit loud. My newer XBox (Arcade from this past December, which I put the 120GB drive from my autographed XBox in) runs much quieter and cooler, while using less power. I personally don't care about Mario...if I wanted to play it, I'd get an old Super Nintendo and go full retro...but I shall leave Mario live in my memories. :p Nintendo did with the Wii as they do best: They found a niche market and exploited it. The XBox and PS3 are more "derivative" - although the XBox does push the media center features pretty well, partially due to media center being on it, partially because streaming netflix through the xbox (which is a feature I LOVE having. Netflix has started to put up shows only a week after they air - they're competing with Hulu. Now I have TWO choices for streaming TV shows!)
I bought my xbox from a friend and he got it when it first came out and then one day I dropped it after bringing it home from a friends house hella drunk. So I got the red ring but I had a month left on the warranty since they extended it and got it fixed for free. Xbox's are loud but I have all the games I play loaded on to the hard drive so its 10 times more quiet when I play since it doesn't need to run the cd. Also I personally think netflix is cooler then blue ray but I'm not a big movie fan. I still like the ps3 a lot and prolly would of got one but all my friends around here are on 360's or wii's. And to me all the fun is playing with the people I know.
Online they're both pretty much same, except the PSN store only updates on Thursdays & there is no cross game voice chat. But yeah I pretty much got a PS3 because most of my friends got one, & the few exclusives that probably weren't gonna get ported over the PC months later with 50 new extras (& I'm too cheap to pay for online gaming) :p. Side note: I wrote the this post on my PS3's web browser ;D
My 360 red ringed after 2 years. I was appalled when I saw the refurb they sent me was a launch unit, then pleasantly surprised when I found it ran cooler and quieter than my old one
Mines (as always) A30neth It woulda been Aeoneth but i ended up stealing that name form myslef when i signed up for windows live
Depends when you got it replaced; manufacture date means nothing. The innards mean everything. They may have sent a case with different innards; the newer cooler should tip you off to that. And don't open your console to find out. Doing so voids the warranty.
Like I even have a warranty. It was pure luck they replaced mine, I have no proof of purchase since the console was won by a friend of my mom's at work and then given to me since the winner was a 60 year old woman that hardly knows what the hell you do with a controller :p
Crack the case open, you break factory seals and they will not service it. Proof of purchase or not, once the seals are broken, they will just send you back the same console you sent them.
I believe that MS extended the warranty for certain 360 failures, which means you DO have a warranty to void. Check wikipedia or something for info on that.
Did you guys hear xbox360 sucks and ps3 is like 100x better and how like its future proof and then the wii is fun for stuff. I heard microsoft is going bankrupt next week
lololololololololololol no consoles are all just as much a waste of money, and it would be a hard labor for an army of specialists that have inside acces to try and get Microsoft to go bankrupt
