ok so you see, i read that Jn didnt have a avatar, so i went to the trouble to make him one. first, i read the forum limit. Ok, so its 80x80 and under 19kb. Ez. so, i made a simple placeholder avatar until he could get a new one. I saved it as a JPeg, settings as 28kb/s, and a quality of 6. i saved it, and it was 29kb. damn, make it worse quality, right? well, i tried. i put the rate at the smallest possible (14 kb/s), and i put the quality down to 0. the avatar was still 25kb. heres wut it looks like: so what im asking is, why are the limits so damn small? how come a have to destroy the image, and it still doesnt meat the requirements?
Really, though, couldn't we be given the option of being able to use larger (filesize, not necessarily dimension) images if we were to host it ourselves? The current limit does seem a bit absurd.
possibly with a plugin but not with the default settings, no I wouldn't mind bigger avs though, size and dimensions =o
Bigger avi size also makes animated gifs possible, and I believe Krenzo was a bit against that. But aslong as you index the colors and even save it as gif 19kb is more then enough
Holy shit, I was about to skip over this thread for lack of exciting title (I know, I know, don't judge a book by its cover) but I clicked anyways only to see a random act of kindness to me I've gotta say thanks clay. It looks pretty sweet. I'll start figuring out how to make one in Gimp someday, or just use this one :D
this one works better right click it, copy image location, than paste it over the URL in the avatar options, make sure it doesnt say http twice.
