    yea, well, I CANT FUCKING SEE WUT IM DOING!!!! THE 3D WINDOW DONT WORK!!!!

    o yea, staircases are entities, doorways: http://interlopers.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=6549 , floors are just big blocks (press enter), design is wut u do, windows are clipped squares that are glass.

    heya niar, can i put this in my sig?

    You can fix the 3d window problem easily. Make an entity (every time I say that the one video tutorial guys voice comes to mind.

    What the hells going on, I cant place single quotes in firefox? ACK! WTF?

    My computer is freaking out!

    Anyway, yeah, redid the riverbed and the island already.

    Uhm, there's not much to screenshot aside from some water. No buildings up yet, and the whole thing is an (skyboxless) open, grassy field with an island in the middle of a river.

    No bridges yet, even. :-(

    I'll probably get the bridges tomorrow, and after that...

    Buildings

    edit: Can't find the bridge models?

    No offence to anyone here, but this thread really has gone to shit.

    I'd recommend something a little more simple to start with Niarbeht, this seems to be a little above your head. Look through the forum for some beginner tutorials, and read read read before you jump in there with the carve tool. It might seem boring, but if you don't understand what you're doing then you can never do it well.

    yea at least read all of the basic tutorials (making a room, connecting a room, making a doorway, making a window, water, displacements)
    video tutorials help the most, and they can be found here:

    Oh, don't worry. A full map is nothing more than five hundred iterations of the same tutorial sitting right next to one another.

    It works fine for me. I have no experience in troubleshooting it, though.

    What, exactly, is your problem again?

    Yeah, I have the same problem but I've noted my fix elsewhere here. It's craziness involving spawning an entity and using the view menu to focus your 3d view on it.

    Yays.

    Bridges essentially in place. Someday, I'll make them look better. Now, I think I'm going to edge in the map using props and brushes and such.

    Anyone got a good idea how to block off the river, aside from a mystical invisible wall?

    simply put, u have to make the map. :D :D

    *sigh* hammer went gay again. centering the view dont help. *sigh* i was just learning about displacements.

    Not make the map... I've got a river, a riverbed, some shitty bridges (two of which are constructable/destructable), and had a misadventure with buildings (made a building larger than some CS maps...) and rounding the corners of buildings (WHADDYA MEAN YOU DON'T WANNA CLIP?). Figured out it's better to cut the wall and stick in a quarter-cylinder, and at the top corner pointy things stick in an eighth of a sphere.

    Then, after I get done doing all kinds of construction, I get to blow it all up. Joy.

    blow it up? as in destory for rubbleish look?

    whats the func_ for buildable like a bridge?

    emp_eng_brush or something similar to that. Select your construct you wanna be constructable/destructable, go to tools (or something like that) and then to tie to entity

    Now select the entity type you want it to be tied to.

    I think one of the people who've made complete maps needs to make an "example" map with example versions of all the Empires entities being used.

    I'm going to have to admit that I suck, absolutely suck, at making buildings. I get good map ideas, but I can't make a building worth shit.

    I'll keep working on it, though. I have two generic building types (need to add a roof access ladder to one of them), and am hoping to get about six to ten generic types of varying sizes/shapes that can have windows, etc, added to to fire out of, and can be blown up in different ways.

    I think I'm going to have to admit someday that I need help :-P

    But not until I've pulled my fair share of the weight on the map.
