It's not in Microsoft's interest to give information out randomly. They'll give info to governments if they're forced to, whereas advertisers don't get the info as Microsoft handle the data for them. This entire OS is built on Cortana, and they had to choose between a localised assistant (which means it uses your resources and harddisk space), a bad assistant, or an assistant that uses Microsoft servers to do the processing. They chose the options that makes the most sense. Cortana is Microsoft's flagship product as it's pretty fucking good at what it does. No-one complains about Siri sending all that data to Apple, or anything on Google being collected, but as soon as we get to Microsoft all the concerns come out of the woodwork. Microsoft are usually quite good at privacy matters (except Skype, but they didn't write the backdoor stuff). I never saw this list of complaints with the new iphone.
People complain a lot about Google and Siri, atleast Apple doesn't have a history of government backdoors in their products. There is also a huge difference if it's just on your phone or on a real computer where you do serious stuff.
I've seen quite a few people who do a lot of stuff off their phone, it's pretty much their computer at this point.

I have been in love with Windows 7 since it came out. Mostly due to how bad vista was.But decided to try Windows 10 yesterday. Took over 6 hours to download / install. Mostly due to me keeping every program I had installed. (About 1 TB) Only issue I have had is my screen not shutting off. The screen turns black but you can still see the mouse pointer. Other then that It is pretty decent. I love how I can run apps with out having to use an emulator. As for the "Windows 10 is spying on almost everything you do" Who cares ??? All most everything you do is documented and tracked any way. Unless your one of them nut jobs plotting to over throw the government you shouldn't have any problems. If it bothers you that much then Windows isn't the best idea for an operating system. Every version since at least XP has built in spyware. Then again maybe you should avoid the internet all together. Here in the US and most other countries your ISP logs every thing you do. I think it is a good thing. If you have to hide what you are doing then you probably shouldn't be doing it.

That wasn't directed at you or anybody. Just quoted it cuz that seems to be a lot of peoples biggest complaint. They don't seem to realize that tracking can be a good thing and regardless of what precautions you take your being tracked. Honestly I really wish people was tracked more. People have too much "Freedom" Here in the US. At one point I was anti Government. then something happened..I grew up. Example I was in court one day and was just sitting in there watching cases. One was a man probably late 20s - mid 30s. In there for a felony possession of heroin. Trying to argue that it was an illegal search. The guy had about 16 prior convictions. Mostly drug charges. He also tried to argue that it was for personal use and not for distribution. Our tax money is being wasted so this asshole can sit in court for an hour wasting every ones time because he felt that he was illegally searched. People like this are a drain on the world and should not have rights. Screw their privacy. You get caught with an illegal substance = you go to jail. But back to Windows 10 and it's tracking. Do you really feel that anyone gives a shit what type of things your doing Teef ? Do you picture every one in the government sitting in a room waiting for you to install windows 10.

This is beyond retarded because it implicitly rejects the idea that there are moral actions that are illegal, essentially equating morality with legality. Allow the police to barge in with zero oversight and search our homes without any permission or expectation of privacy! We don't need no damn due process! This is America, if someone was going to go to a trial, obviously they had to be guilty in the first place! No one ever gets arrested if they're innocent. A crime is a crime, there's no such thing as excessive punishment when it comes to breaking the law! Natural rights? What are those? Not everyone has a right to rights!
