I never played Fable or anything by this guy, maybe with Theme Park as an exception but I constantly heard that name - Molyneux as if he was Carmack/Meier or hell knows who. Then I get to see this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oSaw85bliyQ and everything is clear. Why hasn't anyone called bullshit on him long ago?
populous, syndicate, dungeon keeper ... and theme park was shite, cris saywers rollercoaster tycoon was a million times better (but also a few years later) ... dunno bout fable, not my genre
Chris Sawyer was a god, he did all his own shit. Transport Tycoon and Roller Coaster Tycoon were both amazing.
Because he knows what he has to do to get funding, and is willing to compromise his vision to get that funding. And has done so. Repeatedly. He's also been in the pocket of Microsoft for a long time. Maybe he's finally gotten fed up though. Off to sail the indie waters in his 22 can raft. Will be interesting to see what comes out of it. Hopefully it wont just be another set of balls.
This guy is like every American with a webcam: "I'll say absolute fuck all over and over again but I'll say it loudly so people agree with me." That said, Fable II really did suck. No fun and even less optimization, my PC runs Metro 2033 on full at twice the framerate of Fable III. Lost Chapters was a fucking awesome game; why, Peter? WHY!?
Is it just me.. Or did Peter not make these games alone? Maybe, maybe, he.. he did have a company of people with him, so that he doesn't deserve all the praise/hate? It's just a small thought, please don't hit me.
Thing is peter molyneux has a habit of coming up with cool ideas, then telling everyone all the awesome stuff his game is going to have, then it either doesn't have it or it's buggy as hell because they tried to add it and it didn't quite work.
He advertised all the Fable games as being choice-based RPGs but they turned out very linear with useless karma points. The first two were really good fun (the third was just poorly thought out but had potential) but neither were what was promised.
