What annoys you most?

    1) Scout's ranged rifle - I guess this ties in with me having a deep hatred of being sniped. I hate being killed in 1-2 shots by something I can't see. I think my annoyance is compounded by the fact that I thought there wasn't going to be a "sniper" class in Empires, and yet here it is.

    2) Artillery - Again, I hate being killed be something I can't see. There have been so many times now where I walk out of the barracks and instantly die, along with 3 of my nearby teammates, from an arty-spamming nubcake across the map. Probably wouldn't annoy me so much if you couldn't field artillery like tanks.

    So..just my spiels. >;P What annoys you most in Empires?

    Edit: Yes, I did just come from a game where I was arty camped, then sniped within 2 minutes of leaving the barracks. Is this a biast viewpoint? Of course. >;P

    I kinda hate both, aldo i play scout to kill anybody trying to snipe me off.

    i dont mind scouts, mainly used during the first part of the game to help kill the engi building turrets..

    Arty is a pain in the ass - neither really use arty because i hate it

    Arty is a pain, sniping not as much - if they're close enough to kill you in 1-2 shots, it's not really sniping :P

    -Scout. Not the class, the person. Hes a griefing pindick asshat.

    -Thor. For having a bigger clan than us. Ill see you in hell, damn you!! haha

    -Arty for the same reason as Jkun. It IS rewarding though when you see a couple artys get bumrushed though.

    I dont mind scouts either woody. I just hate the ones who talk shit after they kill you every time.

    Yes, both of these definitely. I don't mind the snipers as much, but artillery really stinks in my eyes.

    ow yeh first person to get arty and have a team that knows how to lame it well wins, trust me no matter what, this is the number 1 strategy and it sucks.

    A good sniper at start can make a very big difference in refs and take down engis with ease.

    No offence but I liked the scout before, and better yet, i went scout more often before and was pretty succesfull with it, altho I have to say that I did whine on these forum to up the accuracy, but I have said from the start to reduce the damage.

    i remember a post in the other thread about damage reduction being relative to the distance from the target. Like for example on escort when NF is at the final flag sometimes a scout will sit outside the tunnel entrance and just snipe people while strafing forward and back a bit to avoid detection. The times I get shot up there I usually die in 1 hit but if im on something like canyon and getting sniped from one of the hills Ill barely take 1/3rd damage from a hit.

    I haven't tried the mod yet, but I can tell the artillery in this game is very much disliked, it is kind of in BF2, where a good commander knows enemy positions very well and they just bombard the hell out of you. ALTHOUGH artillery is BF2 is quite easy to avoid...I don't know about the one in Empires and it's blast radius. Concerning the Scout class...dude...grab a vehicule drive up there and put a bullet in his head!

    the bugs annoy me the most tbh.

    as for arty, if it had an incoming whistle and it was actually quite easy to destroy once you got close to it, and it couldnt shoot close to itself at all, then there wouldnt be a real problem with it.

    arty is definitely overpowered atm, but can definitely be fixed and i would miss it if totally removed. I enjoy the feeling of being shelled, as long as it isnt the moment i spawn.

    This is what I think.

    • Reduce arty damage to players by 50%.
    • Reduce arty damage to vehicles by 10%.
    • Increase minimum firing angle, so minimum firing distance is about 1.5 times it is now.
    • Decrease max firing angle, so minimum firing distance is about 1.5 times it is now. (You can practically fire straight up at the moment.)
    • Add self damage (for all tanks).
    • Add a 3 second 'setting up' time, so that you cannot fire as you are moving. Either that, or make it much more inaccurate during that time.

    There was discussion about changing the scout. I advocate making the ranged rifle some sort of increased accuracy burst fire assault rifle-- like it's described in the weapon's description, instead of the single shot sniper-esque weapon it is now.

    Or, and I've always supported this, make the damage done with the rifle constant at all distances- that is, a two-three shot kill from any distance, eliminating the close range advantage and increasing it's effective distance SLIGHTLY.

    Frankly, I like the scout right now, and will snipe you from a mile away, but I can see your arguments against it.

    As for artillery, there was a poll in the old forum, someone should make it again, as to whether to reduce the armor for the artillery or even reduce weight limits for the artillery to reduce it's ability to be fielded as a tank. Either option would be fine by me, and would make it a stricly long range, tank-supported weapon to be used with any effectivness.

    There was discussion as to the arty having to deploy in order to fire-- I think that got vetoed.

    1: Scout rifle one shot kill at close - medium range

    2: Knockback when hit

    3: Tank recoil

    4: Turrets being too hard to hit consecutively (again tank recoil)

    5: tanks reload too fast

    6: homing cruise missiles of the ML turrets

    7: horriblly varying performance

    8: Mine defuse not always working while in a vehicle.

    3 and 4 take skill, its more challenging this way.

    This is like the scout, when you make it more easier, suddenly everyone is a killing machine, so god no dont change this...

    say no to boring gameplay :P

    a challenge is going one on one with another player, not trying to hit some pixels for 5-10 minutes.

    Yeah no doubt I'm going to hell..you got me :p

    But anyways I would say Arty. Arty ruins about half the games im in, and make the game boring and not fun when used. Scouts are pushovers. If a scout tries to take me out, he better have 99% accuracy because otherwise when I charge his ass it's over.

    taking out a turret only costs 10 seconds...
    But recoil is also one on one >,>
    and a driving tank is harder to hit than a turret

    Being sniped by Scouts.

    Being shelled by artillary.

    Using artillary, one round I was dominating the game, I racked up so much points. I can see why people despise it.

    People screwing around, this only counts when I feel like winning :(.

    The NF heavy rifle being next to useless, too bad, it looks kickass.
