As I mentioned in a couple scattered posts, I'm using wegame to film some ingame footage. You can see the videos at http://Wegame.com in the HL2 mods section. The quality is pretty good for a free program and service. It seems I have to lower my resolution a lot for it to look great and not skip. Maybe this would be best done with a demo. At any rate, it's a solid program and the Devs have been really helpful. They added Empires support when it was brought to their attention and they wanted to know if anyone here had suggestions for how they could improve the product. If you do try it out (and i recommend it) write down here what could be improved. One thing I know needs improvement is my videos. Not to mention my play. The quality is awful ><. Even Gamecam does a better job than this tbh... You can also record a demo in empires, open console and type: "start movie.avi" without quotes and you will have yourself a 100% quality movie.
you mean: startmovie moviename ? startmovie moviename produces a mass of screenshots, one 2mb texture file screenshot per frame.
This isn't super quality here, this is for people who would normally use Youtube to show off their skills, and for people who don't have their own site to host stage6 videos. The quality could be better I suppose, though i'm sure wegame wouldn't like the increased bandwidth cost. The avi files recorded on my computer are about half the screen size I normally use. I wasn't overly impressed by the quality of the resolution, but then again I don't have the biggest harddrive.
I think there is a way to make Fraps compensate for low FPS, so you can record a demo then crank all the video options up to max, playback the demo and record it to fraps. Is saw a recording of a 200+ AI battle in Armed Assault. The guys PC could only run it at about 5-10fps, but with fraps recording a t 10fps when he played it back it looked smooth as butter....
