Here's a crack at it, let me know what u think, it certainly looks easy enough to replace the current images in the gcf.

    CURRENT:

    NEW 3D:

    OR transparent tga for vtf

Yes. BUT, you need to remove some corners and possibly resize them to be the same as Nesquikos gui
Edit: if you do this then ill add the glow to vehicle side views in the vf menu. When both are done then we could look at the vf models (the ones mentioned in my previous thread)

looking good - if im allowed to criticise it, let the glow fade a tad faster, it looks much like a border. but its minor and mere a matter of taste ...

Yeah, add an outline/glow around it, but I'm totally up for it.

also try dark (black with a tad alpha so it get the color from the back aswell) glow, it looks much like a shadow for a lamp that illuminates the object from right behind the viewpoint ...

if im not completely mistaken it was applied in the original picture for example:

Sorry of the black version is a bit uglier than the white one.

thats taste, i like the black one better as its more subtile.
all in all i think the 3d shots are better then the ones from the sides as they appear more dynamic. but it has to show how it looks once everything is photographed this way.
if its not aligend anymore it might look odd as a whole, since weapon selection is purely informative ...

anyway, let the people decide ... :D

Black would work if we had an opaque background but it might look weird on a translucent one.

ask mayama for a somewhat qualified judgment, in the end he studies THIS. make use of the resources we have, im certain there are countless papers on "how you design what if you want to convey this" and during his studies he prolly went through a couple of those ...

if youd ask me, id say its individual taste and i couldnt even argue mine.

If you make it 3D shouldn't the front point up? This way it almost looks like some kind of NF autopistol. :D

the front is pointed towards the left for all weapons (?), i think it wont appear like that if you dont see the image seperated ...

Trickster, I'm pretty certain weapons are on an opaque background at the minute anyway

Yes atm they are pointing straight to the left. The concept here points to the left downwards, so by pointing up I mean pointing upwards to the left.

ya i thought the new gui was translucent.

will try fiddling with glow/lighting effects. I just approached same was as vehicles as afaik the gui is the same color and opacity for both.....is this wrong?

also, the direction of the weapon will be whatever yields the best image, for instance the BE RPG is retarded and needs remodel, the blast shield isn't even attached, so it has to be screenshot in a certain direction. I was hoping to get them all the same direction/orientation but it just doesnt work or make much difference, imo.

Be really careful with your aliasing, try to take any renders at the best possible graphics you can. If it's going to be used ingame it has to look as good as possible.
