Those are a little crap though, there aren't any really good and functional tower props. A good water tower prop and perhaps more importantly, a good base, would be very useful.
Once compiled, I think you can change the scale by just opening the .qc file and edit $scale and then save.
Ah, I've only played that map a couple of times, never saw the almost identical water tower, I wonder if it uses the same reference pic Mine should hopefully look better when finished and as Chris said I can then model a watch tower top that sits on the base and so on.
All water towers look more or less the same, don't worry about it, that one has a four legged base anyway, and it's horribly low res, it's designed for near-skybox usage.
Just to let you guys know, I haven't forgotten about this I've just had to travel from london to galway for a wedding this weekend. I'll get a lot done with this next week.
Okay, I've been quiet but I have been working on this some more. Nothing massive as I haven't had a lot of time but I've got the ladder up the side in, it eats up the polys though but it'll be easy to switch it to texture only after the closest LOD. I've started work on the railings though I'm not particularly happy with the connection pieces on them right now. I've also added in steps at either side. Those are something that I could keep as separate models and the mapper can decide where to place them, depends on what you guys think. Anyway on to the pics:
Thats some sexy shit bro. Can you make the ladder a separate model, that has a paper thin backing the handholds attach to? That way they can just slide the model into position. Im sure there will be maps that people don't want them to climb the tower and having a ladder there without the climb brush would make things counter intuitive. p.s. bro five.
Yea I can do that, it will also make the changing lod easier as it can fade to a textured plane then to nothing.
Been swamped lately with work, and my free time has been getting eaten by Deus Ex then BF3 and lately Skyrim not to mention the full release of minecraft! Oh dear... I've unwrapped part of the model, just gotta put in a few hours to get the rest unwrapped, I apologise for having left this so long. I'll get around to finishing it at some point I spent the entire time working on this saying to myself, this will not turn into another unfinished thing of mine!
thats exactly what i say to myself with these vehicle models all the time i hope i will stop beeing lazy in that regard some time and finish them hope you will too

Would love to have it, although since I'm not a modeller it has to be completely finished or I won't be able to use it Also Echelon is on pause again while I'm adding some details to the brushwork in emp_chain. My part on echelon is mostly done anyway, I'm not making the main base myself. The smaller urban area already took me much longer than I expected. I will be finishing the tunnel to the main base but that's it for me. Edit: also wtf .. I haven't seen a modeller in 6 years and suddenly there's misfire, flasche, firewarrior, darg, smithy, ... all making props (well i have 2 so far from misfire but that's still more than in the previous 6 years combined), remaking official building models, weapons, vehicles, ...
