Yea I am to at a loss why would you need to animate the turret and barrel? That should be all done in scripting, unless you needed to animate the barrel moving up and down? Even then you can script barrel tilt constraints.
I never got beast in finished state from Megel. I never heard him mentioning it was finished. Tanks are made of 3 entities and 3 models: body, turret and cannon. Movement with respect to another doesn't need animation (this "anim" is done in code). Wheel rotating/suspension needs very simple animations. There's also a bit of work with .qc for whole thing.
so i grew a bit tired of all the armor plates and decided to realize a concept that i had in my mind: replaceable model for railgun although im not quite pleased with it currently it looked good alone, but it seems to be a bit too small when really on the tank and i replaced the anchors of the chassis with the new ones
it needs some stuff around the barrel, like rings or smth (not circular necessarily) and a support where its attached to thte turret ...
update to railcannon btw empty if you are reading this: that thing could use some lightning arc particles flashing between the coils
true that but i can easily duplicate it and put it on heavys and besides: NF can have a single rail, although i would need to change that one a bit
what when I put one HE and one RAIL on my heavy? Yes I tend to do that. Do I get one rail and one normal cannon then? would look funny and of course ROCK.
as far as i know of it should be technically possible if we define bodygroups for each weaponslot would have to do that sooner or later anyway cause of different MGs on medium
so its time to dedust this thread! i finally pounded myself to start the work on it again (be it just to show some people that this mod aint dead yet ;P) so here goes what i was afraid of most of the time (which was fairly easy afterwards): and this is the progress overall(the back still needs to be done):
Nice model. Are those fans on the back? I like the railing on the back half of the turret. It would make the tank more identifiable.
sorry for double posting, but since this is my thread i dont care ;P just wanted to ask if someone got a reasonable idea what this could be by now:
Eh, who cares what they are. Make them missile launchers, and put them on top where they'd be useful. (Edit: Not really sure what quoting Trickster has to do with that, actually. Besides crediting his line of thought.)
