My suggestion is simply to remove the customize button. Clicking customize is just one extra button you need to press to get through the vehicle menu. After you click you are still basically seeing the same screen, only you can move stuff around afterward. To keep it from slowing down the process for already configured tanks you could add a "build current" button to the bottom corner, and perhaps grey it out if there is a problem with the loadout.
seeing as i never used the pre-made, pre-saved loadouts, and i always just customize them like new, I agree, the button is pretty useless. If someoen else (beerdude or dizzy, maybe?) knows otherwise, speak up man!
