If you can convince 20 Greeks who don't speak English to start playing Empires regularly you can worry about it, otherwise don't stress
I rather meant real world, if you are in foreign country atleast in eu, Polish are the ones you meet pretty much on every step basically.
Huh, didnt know it was like that except for truckers since i know theres a billion of cargo companies in poland moving shit on east-west axis.
I wonder why you even bother doing the Dutch version. I can't think of a single person that plays games with the Dutch language. I'm sure they exist, but I wonder if it would attract new players. How many lines/words are we talking about here, btw? Maybe I can help.
I could maybe help a bit with french. Be aware however its not pure french, its quebec french. OSTIE DE TABARNAK!
He's right. The few dutch speaking people that would prefer dutch over english are those who aren't really into gaming or internet communities in general. I only know 1 person from my generation or younger who has a problem with english. That said i do turn on english subtitles often in story-driven games, as it does help. But that's more of problem i have with voices in general. Even in dutch actually
Honestly, I dont even think its a good idea to play the game in any other language, considering that everyone uses english names and phrasing. It would only be a bad thing for anyone to use translated game. Or a guy will not know what the hell is "rax", when its named "kasarny" in czech. Even though I try to keep some names closer to original, it might be a good idea not to translate some of those main things. (or maybe just include original name next to it.) Just a simple example.. Having translations will just only give a little boost to sensing there was more effort put into the game, atleast for those just willing to first time try it. Many people might decide to try it just because their language is supported. For example Slovaks dont generally have that good knowledge of english. And might help non english speaking people try the game. Its really rather a detail though. So as far as Iam concerned, its rather a bad thing if anyone would actually use those translations. But its definitely not a bad thing to have them. Its quite a bad thing to create habits for something, but then needing to rehabit them to move forward in the game. But still, btw...There is definitely much more to translate than I have ever imagined
Hope its ok if I post a progress update: Quite slow D: Is polish actually almost finished or was it glitched/exploited? EDIT: Maybe it would be a better idea to split the translations to 2 groups. Game and tips. (or I guess descriptions take a huge part too) Game should be done first and language could be released when that would be done. Tips would be then additionally translated. As I believe, the tips take a huge portion of translations.
So... the only server that is up is an English only server, if I remember the rules correctly... so how would translating it bring in people who'd follow the rules? They'd have nowhere to play.
You can still have a translated Empires and communicate in English. They are not mutually exclusive and I'm sure some people actually prefer it that way.
