Training Server: the place for ... nobody?

Long time no see!

Most of you dont know me because i always hide behind my green text of console :D

Anyways, enough about me

Here is the deal:
my server 207.154.8.106:27015 Training Server: The place for new players to be ( http://www.game-monitor.com/empires...g_Server_The_place_for_new_players_to_be.html ) is pretty much dead or going to die (in players).

I am still keeping this server, but i give the players here a chance for those that cant afford to pay for a server but have a GREAT BIG IDEA about how to improve the Empires Community and make a nice awesome server to attract more player etc... To finally get to manage a server and make his (or her?) dreams come true!

Wouldnt you say it either? "better let someone else manage the server and make the community grow, instead of keeping the empty server without even looking after it."

My Reasons (kinda):
I basicaly dont have time anymore to maintain the server.
I dont even know where my admins are and if they still play this game or not.
I do play this game (i know, i lied here :p shoot me) and havent looked at empires anymore, but recently played a few maps on the KM server. Yay!

Server details:
Hosted by www.wolfservers.com
Server location: boston, US east coast
48USD/month for 32 players (NEVER change the player slots, check every cvar about maxplayers to make sure!!)
100mbit
monthly FUP (fair user policy) bandwidth (means unlimited bandwidth, just dont exagerate)
shared dedicated box, unknown specs since they upgraded not so long ago.

All emails will be held private, but i will post here on the forum how many candidates there are, just to give the interested people a nice idea.

Before i wrote this post, i saw 8 players on my server and asked them why they were still playing here
I announced in there about "giving it away for free" and already have one candidate. So the first email is in already.

I'm sure a lot of people are now fragging or sleeping or watching porn (not a joke), so i will give them a chance to read about this too and will end this offer within 10 days. Timer started ticking
(Sorry that it cannot be sooner like 3 days or 7 days. I am flying here and there and wont have the time to get online.)

All emails will be replied at, if you didnt get a reply, it prolly got into the spam box, try to use a different email. I'll try to remember about checking my spam box.

Here are some terms (these may change, but the most important ones are here):
- disallowed to change maxplayers (32 is max, dont go over it. Visible max players is something different)
- allowed to change hostname and advertise own clan.
- disallowed to lock the server for a clanmatch or private purpose. This server remains public at all times.
- allowed to change the whole server config (admins, settings, bans etc)
- disallowed to cancel the service with wolfservers.com
- this server doesnt come with webhosting. So for all your custom files, find a nice hosting or use one from your friends. Dreamhost and Lunarpages are well rated.
- ... maybe something i forgot to mention, dunno ...

While I certainly would like that, I hope whoever gets it has a better plan than just that. I mean, there's several servers with normal settings already.

It'd be nice to see a server with more custom maps...

 

You should give it to JPL, Daisy seems to be one of the only mods that play nowadays and her clan plays alot, so maybe approaching her and ask her if she wants it.

Daizy is 100% not a good person for this because she is in a clan while NOKI told me he will never join a clan .

What does being in a clan have to do with anything? I asked for the server for the @ clan because it would be a nice opportunity for us.

FYI: 90% of good servers in source based games are operated by clans.

I think I'm missing something... JPL already has one or two servers. What do they need another for? Why not give it to a clan that doesn't have one yet?

So you're giving away control over the server to the one with the best ideas and intentions?

I hope someone turns it into a map test server. It would be a server filled with incomplete, small and usually ugly maps, but they would be fresh and you'd see them improve nearly weekly thanks to the players feedback.

I thought it would be cool to have an invite server where everyone who has shown they know how to play the game and can play cooperatively, no griefing etc. would all be allowed in.
