It seems ive given the wrong impression. Wasnt really badmouthing bs here. Bioshock is not /terrible/ at it. Some of the logs make sense. Other not so much- especially the ones that belong to single people, it just doesnt make sense for them to leave multiples of them around for no reason. In BS also, i still scratch my head about the form of the recordings, they are not casettes, but whole recorders, which makes them easy to spot for sure, but really strains the suspension of disbelief, as its hard to imagine someone packing 10 of those to randomly leave them for lols.
I played for about ten minutes more after beating the crow guy. Controls felt slow, guns felt weak, plasmids were useless besides hacking turrets, headshots don't kill, iron sights are useless, had to rebind nearly every fucking key, etc, etc. If it didn't have _shock in the name then this drivel would have been panned.
The story, the setting and the graphics, those are the things that make Infinite a classic, the shooting not so much, i agree. And don't get me started about the plasmids, not a single one feels really usefull, except for possession. I wish i could find Burial at Sea somewhere cheap, i want to play it, but i don't want to spend twice the money on DLC than what i got the the main game for.
Murder of the crows is very useful, but that's about it. Infinite's gameplay feels like that of system shock 2 in that only a few weapons are worth using. I'm about to finish infinite in its hardest difficulty and I only used the hand cannon and sniper rifle. The carbine and shotgun are nice, but everything else is garbage, especially the vox weapons.
I know this is the most fucking lowbrow thing I could possibly say but I have a Kindle for stories. It is a real shame. There's clearly been a lot of effort put into the setting but it's at most a decent tech demo. Also they still put the audio logs in places where you're just going to be interrupted anyway.
We have books and films for stories, they deliver them in a better way. And I said it time and again, the story wasn't that good either...
Whoa, nelly , have we been playing the same game?? Deus ex is a classic. Diablo is a classic. Warcraft 2 is a classic. Tetris is a classic. BSI has no qualities of a truly memorable game. The only thing that will be remembered is going to be the drama surrounding the "game changes due to some employees taking religious offence at some bullshit" and "devs had to make a character more flat because misogyny" drama. that being said, it is kinda sad.
The control scheme on the first Deus Ex just shows how far computer gaming has gone, learning that maybe F12 or whatever the hell it is (flashlight) may not be the best default key for something you will inevitably have to use if you want to see anything. Which is also hilarious if you don't remap it and are using Steam without changing the screenshot key. You get a bunch of pictures of very dark rooms. Deus Ex: HR was amazing too. The color tint really made the game.
Definitely Deus Ex. I still have to finish Transistor and The Banner Saga. Then I will probably be playing the Bioshock Infinite DLCs and start Dragon Age.
