What third faction would you like to see in Empires? -Write a story about your faction, how it is involved in the war and it's history. -Concept art would be appreciated -Factions flag -Models would be nice too :D
Some sort of faction working against the B.E. and kissing up to the N.F. while committing horrible crimes, using equipment from both factions and employing spies and mercenaries. Its leaders, crime lords exiled from the B.E., hope that the NF will thank them for their efforts by letting them have their own territory where they can do as they like (think of it as the Hutt faction from Star Wars that favors the Rebels).
Geez killx, I'm the only one you shoot down directly? Check the faq. It says there will never be a third faction.
Maybe I shoot you down because you make stupid posts like that one? The topic says fantasy. As in, if there was a 3rd faction, what would you want it to be.
The only uncontrolled part on the planet are the southern islands. The current occupants are more of a media based trading faction that broker technology and other useful things to both sides. If it were to become a playable faction they'd probably be the equivalent of France. Tanks that have 1 forward gear and 5 reverse, plastic guns and fishing trawlers converted to vtol platforms.
The Commonwealth doesn't want you. They are not uncontrolled the southern islands are the commonwealth that is supplying both fractions with weapons and technology. They are feared and appreciated that much that none of the 2 factions dare to attack it.
They are foreign insurgents, fundamentalists, and mercenaries seeking to cripple both forces while they slug it out. An infantry-based faction, funded by illicit trading operations in the southern islands, they are specialists and professionals, 'unaffiliated' with the government. They are the Southern Connection. Having the benefit of technologies allotted to both factions, they are fitted with some of the best infantry equipment available and they are tougher, but vehicles are hard to come by. Without the financial support of a government, they refit commercial/industrial vehicles with decent armor (new, lower tier of composite) and more powerful engines (default as gas turbine). Besides their APCs and jeeps, their vehicles are extremely expensive; however, research is slightly faster. Commanding SC plays much like a real-time tactics game. He often gives direction to the team, issuing orders, and doing light research. The commander is more of a guide to the team and support, and is less vital to team failure than on the two major factions. Its destruction only means that research and construction are no longer possible. Their structures are different from NF and BE. Instead of a full-sized radar, they have a tall antenna with a radar dish on top. It is quick to construct, but it is weak and only works when in range of the CV. Their barracks covers a larger floor area than the NF barracks, but its height is shorter than BE's. It is an arrangement of tents. Their vehicle factory is smaller, more boxy, has similar layout to NF's VF. Their armory is a sandbox box wedge Acts like a bunker; down is front side \_/. They have no turrets. The infantry of the Southern Connection have a greater arsenal than their counterparts, but to compensate for less armor support, they have stronger RPGs and mortars. http://media.giantbomb.com/uploads/1/11199/231261-crew_large.jpg ain't gonna happen :[
Very little is known about the Commonwealth/Southern Islands... As they are not ripped apart by wars, famine and decease they must posses remarkable technology. Besides that they are high-qaulity mercanaries fighting for both factions they also posses state of the art weaponry. Weaponry were both Brenodi Empire and Jekotian Rebels could ever dream of. Vehicles: Qauds - Instead of jeeps the Commonwealth has got Qauds, armed with Double Machinegun slot. They have more armour (2/2) and increased cost. But they can only carry 2 people. APC - Commonwealth APCs look different from the other factions APCs, they are lower and have more armour (4/4) but they lack firepower as they only have one 2 MG slot and 1 grenade slot. (They look similar to the modern heavy APCs used in urban combat) Gattling Tank - This is a unique piece of technology, this tank has 2 massive chainguns on each side. It has double 3 Machinegun slots and it will rip apart infantry in a matter of mili-seconds. Jaguar Tank - Basic Commonwealth tank, no missiles, double 1 cannon slots, and a single MG slot. It can carry 3 people. And 4 plates of armour on each side. Beowulf Tank - Medium Commonwealth Tank, one 3 Cannon slot, double 1 cannon slots. And a single machinegun slot. It can carry 5 plates of armour on each side and it has a high cost compared to other faction tanks. Juggernaut Tank - Massive heavy Commonwealth tank, the largest vehicle of the Commonwealths arsenal. Double 3 Cannon slots, Double 2 missile slots and a 3 Machinegun Slot. It's cost is huge, and it can carry up to 10 plates of armour on each side. Missile Tanks - Double 4 Missile Slots, devastating power. They can carry 2 HIT warheads. Altough they are powerfull they suffer from weak armour (1/1).
I'd want the Tremulous space aliens: http://tremulous.net/manual/#x1-40002.1 but remodeled of course. HL2 > Quake. And given giant space aliens as vehicles: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tyranid_Titans_(Warhammer_40,000)#Norn_Queens They have a unique spawn system that is tied to resources. They can grab corpses of enemies and take back to a spawn point for a free resource bonus. Spawning soldiers and vehicles burn both their tickets AND resources (everything!). They start with all biology research completed. All building models look organic.
The dwarven, they tend to live underground in large mountains, and are played by players from the top down perspective, they look like little smilies and pften have to battle different letters of the alphabet, and other extended ascii characters
The commonwealth is left out war because they weren't @Tovarch: Orbital strikes are unavailable as Jekotia never had a satellite weapons platform, and the Brenodi lost their 500mm railgun satellite in low orbit to a prototype exo-atmospheric bomber.
