I think the weapons have taken a good side, but then again they are yet to be perfected, the NFHR does step up to the BEC because BEC fires 3 bullets in 0.3/0.5 seconds? where as compared to the NFHR its about 0.8/1.2 seconds, depending on your click rate and latency, so I personally think the NFHR needs a slight damage boost in order to do more DPR to stay on par with the BEC.

The bullet damage drop off needs the drop off to be abit less, I found my self unable to kill someone with the NFAR with 3 round bursts at 50-60 yards with half a clip gone and the guy is still moving.

So, yeah the guns have gotten better, but they still need to be balanced fully.

I dont get why people complain so much about the NF HR,
its a very good weapon and it is very easy to kill enemys with.

I'm still downloading the 2.2, but i have to agree with this post. It makes the LONE rifleman less effective, and a team that works well with one another, more effective.

Though, until mortars need to be deployed before firing, grens seem to king the battlefield.

I should also note that NF appear to rely on accuracy/firepower over BE's "put as many bullets in them as possible", which gives the factions more variation.

not everyone has a ~6 Mbit internet and its a weapon you need good ping to use.
Whats with more teamwork ,seriously, you guys had nighmares about riflemen? they ALWAYS were much more effective with grens or/and engies ,so thats not a good argument.

It isn't silly. Specific values might be silly but falloff was in Empires 2.1 and you got used to the fact that you can't kill enemy on the other side of the map with 1 bullet.

True, but it seems the Falloff values are alittle too much, seen as I can't kill someone using half a clip of 3 bursts rounds from my NFAR from 50-60 yards away

Falloff is too dramatic imo. It should be muted slighty...and should be ignored when people make head shots : /

A bullet will kill any human be it at 500, 1000, and even 1500 yards if it gets them in the gray matter(or leave them shitting in bed the rest of their miserable life).

i thinks its pretty cool on some of the new stuff its just it is true that some of the weapons are overpowered , other then the weapons i agree with mayama we just need to get use to the new changes and give 2.2 a shot before we say we completely hate it

It's still fun flanking enemy positions, then running up behind them and stickying a group of enemy soldiers.

It's more possible to do this now, cause your teammates take a longer time to kill them.

Then you run away, screamin "lol" into your mic, as you rake up the kills.

Or now that guns are weaker, running straight at them, guns blazing, then jumping on top of prone enemies and either wacking them to death, or just unloading the rest of your bullets into their head.

If 2.2 is to stop ramboing, I must certainly be doing something wrong...

    Lazydog....

You can place Rambo in a 3rd world country's city... a random US town... out in the desert... Deep in a jungle... or even a computer game called empires....

No matter what... He will nail his enemys ass with lead and explosions. [IMG]

Well, I have played as rofleman on the BE side and all I have to say is...wow...

When I played 2.2 first it was as NF and I thought that the rifles there were perfectly fine.

BE on the other hand seems to be a joke unfortunately. The carbine is ok as a long range weapon - the whole single/burst is really wobbly but that can always be fixed but it still feels clumsy). The regular rifle on the other hand is to say the least god-awful. Inaccurate, feels insanely clumsy even with accuracy and damage upgrades.

All in all I felt that the NF rifles were way superior in every way. Playing in exactly the same way, either NF rifle gave me no problems whatsoever in racking up kill after kill with either rifle from close range or afar...the BE assault rifle definitely did not. Carbine only shines on maps with really open spaces and that's pretty much it.

The new weapons are wonderfull. They are a well needed update :D

SMG1: ROF little too slow but nice and accurate.
SMG2: Now only works in VERY small spaces since very unacurate

BE CARBINE: SUPERB, INCREDIBLY ACCURATE (even better with accuracy upgrade). Its the new sniper.

BE Rifle: Nothing new really. Still just as nice :D

NF 50cal: Nothing new. Never use it and never will :p

NF Rifle: Another superb weapon. lower ROF makes accuracy win :D

HMG (both teams): MY FAVORATE WEAPON EVER. IT IS FINALY A GOOD SUPPREESIVE FIRE WEAPON. ROF is superb. (with accuracy upgrade in prone it is superb)

Morter: Range is slightly long which is more like a morter should be. Is not unbalnced because and infantary with a rifle can still take the litte basted out with a gun.

Rocket laucher: Nothing new (as far as i know :p)

Maccine Pistol: xDxDxDxD<----- Think this explains it :p

Overall the weapons are superb in my opinon. Whats all the fuss about the kick. Its nothing. Stop being american with the "shoot a million shots hope they hit. As shaun connery says "if u can do it with one bullet dont do it at all" and i fully agree. LEARN TO SHOOT, USE IRONSIGHTS

I see a lot of negativity about the new weapons and I think this is the best implementation of the weapons since I started playing in 1.1. The guns feel weaker but the before they were a complete joke. SMG's would kill too easily, rifles were way too easy to fire as well. For an FPS, the game took 0 skill to fire the weapons, excluding the mortar.

These changes actually make people need to pick their shots and aim their shots, roll with teammates. These changes get rid of the lone wolf aspect where 1 riflemen could kill 6 people in 2 seconds.

The scout rifle was never meant to be used a sniper rifle, so I like the changes made to that. No one likes snipers in games. They hide behind trees and only help their team get a kill every couple of minutes while their base is being pummeled by a team of grenadiers.

The problem with empires combat was it was too fast and no skill curve. Infantry battles would result in whichever side fired in the other teams direction first. Now players with skill will actually be able to stick out when firing weaponry.

I think the people who like the changes, actually like combat slowed down just a bit and their personal skill taken into account to help the team. The people who don't, can't take the time a place their shots instead holding the left mouse button hoping to kill 1/2 the team like in the previous version.

A thing i might note on for all of you...
Some people take this for granted yet i just remembered that some dont...

IF YOU DONT USE ACCURACY UPGRADE YOU ARE A COMPLETE UTTERELY MORON! (as rifleman vs infantry)

Not entirely true. In urban combat settings, it'd help if you got ammo upgrade for stickies. Plus, fat lot of good accuracy would do you if you're out of ammo. I'm a very behind-enemy-lines type person with roflmen.

Well going rambo with flanking and sticky bombing groups doesnt fall into the general empire player category xD

going rambo is another type of gameplay :D

the comment was mainly refered to those who complained while being a marksman and bitching about accuracy from short to medium range. :p

Been playing for two or something days now with the new weapons, and honestly I can't find anything to bitch about. I only had problems at the beginning, learning to adapt to the new ROF, accuracy, and that lovely BE carbine.

NF rifleman weapons haven't changed much, I still use them much the same way I used the old ones and I'm still sticking around in the top 5. The SMG's are a bit slower, but I just take my time to aim now. SMG2's rape at close range, like the description says they should. It's still easy to pick people off with the SMG1 from afar.

The BE HR is still the same to me, albeit a little less accurate. Not a problem though; I shoot in bursts. The only two things I have to say about them is that the Machine Pistol is never going to be useful unless it becomes more accurate or it becomes a fully automatic pistol. It's too slow and too inaccurate to be used in close range, and way too inaccurate to be used at long range. My only beef with the carbine is that it should have a way to choose between semi-auto and burst fire, because trying to fire off one round in burst mode is just annoying.

The scout rifle sucks at what it used to do, but I imagine that was done on purpose to get rid of the notion that it's a sniper rifle.

In my whole time playing this mod since 1.071b I've never had more fun using the weapons.

EDIT: Although I do miss the bayonet on the SMG3 :[
