The problem with it is that it makes to much sense for the devs to implament it. Rather they will steal the idea and put some retarded buggy ass spin on it.
its a sm plugin anyways, nothing you can blame devs for ... oh wait, you can ... and even if you couldnt, you would :D but srsly delete, that "blame the devs" attitude is so last year ...
actually, if you think about it, why not just make the vote start as soon as you enter? there's no harm in making the vote start earlier, and then you might have something to do in the last 20 seconds or so of waiting for the match to start.
im still in favor of "weighted, player amount controlled map cycle lists" (iirc thats about what omega wanted to do) you can still RTV if you dont like a certain map, but for the bigger majority (well not that ive seen lots of players recently) that just want to play map after map it would provide more diversity.
We used to have weighted map votes. I think. We definately had weighted map cycles though. The main problem is getting enough people to vote, and not hit 1.
This is true, it gets quite annoying when you have people that do that and complain of playing the same maps over and over. Its not to different from having players that ignore all communication and run around getting kills and then complain of a having a low skill team when they lose. Empires needs to reward teamwork more significantly.
This whole shitstorm is easily remedied by not having a shitty maplist. I suggest maps are reviewed and removed from server lists once in a while, especially when people rtv during them.
votes maybe, but no cycle ... maps should be pre-weighted by someone who is able to overcome his personal preferences and look at what the majority of the playerbase likes. also there need to be an indication how many players are needed for a map - some just dont work with 3vs3. all that is wrong is this vote each round bullshit. poeple hop on the server, want to play district (for whatever reason), vote for it, and leave right after they played it - and this happens each 3rd map ... there are how many individual maps? 20? 30? if youd have a mapcycle, youd have to be lucky to play district one or two maps after you joined up. last time ive played it was predictable that its on withing the next 3 votes ... one issue might be nominate (and the 9001 versions of district on servers) actually, if you cannot nominate maps, the possibility for district is way lower too :D but it really isnt only district, ive just used it as example. its true for so many maps - even a lot of "classic mode" maps :D
I have over 60 maps on main. If not more. But then again, I put every map that ever got made on it. I love the diversity, even if they aren't all fantastic. The only map I've removed so far is emp_tms, which is just too ugly even for my tastes.
great 60 maps on main, 20 of them are variations of district (at least felt, i know its only like 3-5)
Is there a reason for them not being alphabetically ordered and appearing multiple times in the nominate menu?
