Almost every time a subject with large consequences for the game(most notable, scout and targets) comes up usually the following things happen within the thread at least once. Person 1: Idea for change Person 2: "possible rebuttal" Posts link to old own idea Person 1: Prefers own Person 2: Prefers own Person 3: Prefers 2s but with changes Person 4: Thinks its fine person 5: "possible rebuttal" Posts link to own idea etc... ... Person 2: Legitimate side topic Person 1: Response to side topic Person 3: Response to origonal topic Person 4: Response to person 1 Person 5: Legitimate side topic 2 Troll 1: Non legitimate side topic/derail etc.... ... Person 3: Post about original topic opposing person 3 Person 2: rebuttal, minor flame Person 3: larger flame, rebuttal-rebuttal Person 2:FLAME ON! Troll 2: Derail/penis joke etc... One of the common factors in all of these situations is that because of the nature of a single coherent conversation things that try and branch off tend to derail the thread and opposing ideas have nowhere to really be discussed. By having a separate sub forum for each big discussion the branching and or opposing ideas can separate off into their own threads without being lost in other non topic related suggestions or causing other suggestions to be lost. The creation of the current new sub-forums have certainly helped organize the forum. This suggestion is intended to help organize the large discussions. TLDR/Specifics -Creation of subforums for the purpose of discussing of a single large topic -Help facilitate the branching off of discussions and preventing derailing -Ability to have discussions apart from proposed solutions -Ideally a separation for pure discussion and proposals (probably just with [Proposal] and [Topic] before threads) -Possibility to make it group locked so that people who troll too much can be made to read-only for awhile -Will likely only be a flame resistant area, not inflammable
