Currently, I think that armor and hull are the wrong way round. Armor gets eaten away instantly, while most of the health of the tank seems to come from the hull itself. I propose changing it round, so that the majority of health comes from the armor, while the hull can be taken out in 1 or 2 rocket hits. Repair values should also be switched round, so it takes much longer to repair armor, and shorted to repair hull. I just think this makes more sense, as then you get a much bigger choice between armor and weapons, and it gives even more of an incentive to research the better armors, and also gives engineers a bit of a chance to deconstruct the tank :p (come on, have you ever seen it happen? I cant believe it would take much nanite stuff to disable a tank ) So yeah, discuss!
yeah this idea makes more sence.. but what about when an enemey runs up with the repair tool, wouldnt he be able to quickly deconstruct the hull?
I thought that that was how it is... well, it takes 2 mortars to take you from no armour to dead, which i think is fair. but think about how strong the upgraded armours are!
Well, this would even up the afv vs lt battle a little, also it would make Heavies incredible (5 levels of regen? That'll last forever!)
I'm not about to use the "this isn't a realism game, this isn't even earth" arguement, because i HATE that arguement. but I am going to use the "fun" arguement, which is what stops the AWP being added to the game, what stops you having to re-download the game everytime you die, and stops you killing someone with one shot to almost anywhere on the body, including upper arms and legs. real life sucks like that. basically: this is a strategy game, so a tank is meant to do tank stuff. and: reguardless, it's not so rewarding taking down a tank in one hit. it doesn't take one cannon shell or rocket to kill a person.
I've nowhere stated that I'm in favor of this "proposal" In fact I don't really like the idea, but IF it is going to be implemented into the game I think the vehicles should be lowered in price.
It doesn't make sense: 1. What covers real tanks except armor? 2. It's not armor+health like in FPS games. 3. You would need better indicator of current hull status. 4. Differences between different armors would be minimalized because most of damage would be done to hull anyway. Heavies: it's normal that tanks with more armor last longer on battle field. One of the reasons why I'm waiting for 1.08 is that heavies will be cheaper.
What? You seem to have taken the suggestion completely the wrong way :/ I'm saying make armor stronger, and hull weaker.
Take a look at RTS games, say, Command & Conquer 3! Tank > Buildings, vehicles, artillery Artillery > Buildings, vehicles APC > Infantry, buildings Infantry (Projectile) > Infantry Infantry (Explosive) > Buildings, artillery, vehicles Looks pretty balanced to me, right now, artillery takes out buildings, armour, infantry, prevents movement forward by shelling huge areas, I think maybe to balance this out, and go against realism, yes, is to make the artillery do make 10 damage to infantry, leave fighting infantry to anything without a boom. When it comes to armour and hull, I think tanks should get thicker armour, and less hull (save for the command vehicle), so they are utterly defenseless once through their protection. Engineers may be able to dissect a tank easily that way, but if this happened and the command vehicle didn't change, that would be no different. On tanks and such, however, if you leave a tank empty where an engineer can get it, you deserve to lose it.
Bodrick: regen, composite, reflective and reactive don't disappear just after 1 missile hit. (Standard does but we're not talking about paper tanks) I didn't notice any need for such changes (at all). ps: if you're using absorbant it's your problem.
This will only work if we can run people over. Like 1.08 will add. That's gonna rock so much. "COME BACK HERE YOU PUSSY ENGINEER!!@ I WANNA SQUISH YOU1211!11"
haha i guess this brings an end to engineers running up and deconstructing enemy tanks.... do you think the deconstruction of tanks could happen a lot faster now then?
