We have active clans and shit now for this summer, jpl, epic, ent, meg, bsidConsor, maybe CW could muster up people to join too. Ent is about to play in two scrims within a week of each other so maybe we should have this as a start to a summer league.
We have 12 tagged up players online today. I'd be totally down for some scrims where we lose gloriously if my finals weren't starting next week.
I'm in too. But tomorrows MEG is not part of the tournament. I'm helping form the roster via cell phone and I can't play. Btw, hey devs how about empires for windows phone 7? I might drink less at work if I could boomtank between tables.
EMPIRES SUMMER LEAGUE! -Da Roolz- Every player willing will put down their name on a list on these forums. These are the people competing. 4 mid-high skilled players selected from the list (non clan leaders) These people will be leaders of teams. One by one they select their choice of players from the list, kind of like picking players for a sport game. Round-robin scrims, with each team playing off over the course of a month or so. Suggestions welcome, thought an idea like this would shake up the roster so it isn't some kind of clan war type thing. Also provides for some change, as it is already generally easy to say who would come where in the current clan system. People would wear tags [A] [C] [D] at the end of their name, Consortium can do it at the front if they get jelly. It would be more fun-oriented, and if there is a lot of interest I could generate some kind of prize. Afterwards we can all get back to the rage and drama, but I thought this would be a good idea.
I think random number generation would work better, then there is no cherry picking. so for example if 66 players sign up 6 are randomly chosen to be leaders randomly between 1-66, then there teams are randomly chosen. That seems pretty fair, it would be like player bingo.
No, it could easily have people stacked. This way people immediately pick the best player, but as it is one at a time per person it will even out.
yeah but I think most people would choose peeps in their own clans, so either it's a clan league, or it's completely random and we just group players to balance the skill rating.
u guys should look at our forums more often, im there each and every day. it is somewhat dead but thats still discouraging.
Well maybe a system where we give players ratings on how good they are, so lets say 20 is the best and 1 is the worst, we would rate it like Grantrithor(20), Trickster, FN, Dawgas (18)... down to Devourawr (1), paradox (-1). Ok jokes aside, we put a bunch of players on one team, add their numbers up, do the same to another team, and the numbers would have to be equal. It's complicatedish but it makes sense.
Are you telling me you would pick paradox over someone in EPIC or JPL? Lets be honest, if you pick good team captains that know the community well, they'll pick the ideal players. Random is only a solution if you are assuming the captains won't pick rationally.
Define a player's skill rating. That's far more complex than simply having captains. Also, you're an idiot.
